We've been here numerous times as it's on our way in and out of Montreal. Servers are always friendly. We've gotten the cold slabs of meat before and now tried their hot food. The smoked meat was melt in your mouth! We also caught some of the live band for the first time, which was great. Nice atmosphere!

I went to smoke meat Pete and it was a huge huge letdown there was no signs anywhere saying take out line was or if this was to dine in nothing horrible service horrible information I had to stop someone to make sure I was in the right line it took forever. I ordered a family fry and it was $17.25 it was the size of a medium fry or even a small fry if you compare it to pay belle province I would never go there again who does way overpriced and not worth. Almost $18 for pretty much a small fry

We went for a Saturday lunch. Each of us ordered a Pete Jumbo Special - that is a Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich combo with fries, two slices of pickles, coleslaw, and a fountain drink. While it was very busy, it didn't feel crowded. We plan on returning again! 5-stars!!

First things first, the food is great and if you happen to go on a night when there is a live band, you are up for a good time.The service is where it goes sideways. The place is popular, thanks to food quality and atmosphere. I get that they don't necessarily want to offer table services, having a cashier to order from assures them the food is paid for, no walk outs, I get that. But they need to put more than one cashier and a better system than customer's name to ensure proper track of order.Me and my adult kids went for a weekday lunch, it was jam packed and the lineup went all the way to outside. I ordered first, then my two kids, we all took the Pete special so nothing out of the ordinary. Since we all wanted to bring back some cold smoked meat for our loved ones, we each paid for our order separately. My kids both received their order and I had to remind them TWICE that I still had not received my order. their answer was that they didn't forget me, they were just very busy and only 2 guys were working in the kitchen.My order finally came over 30 minutes and my kids meals was now cold. I would have appreciated an explanation or an apology but instead, I just got an annoyed here's your order ma'am". That's sad"

Friendly service and fresh, great tasting food makes this joint super popular. We were given bbq ribs as a taster while we waited in the line up, which was a great touch! The smoke meat sandwich is the hero though, melt in the mouth meat, fresh of the grill.Only wish a pickle was standard with every order and not just with the combo.Plenty of seating and parking.

We went for lunch and ate there. The blues music is nice and ambiance is fun.We ordered a smoked meat sandwich, a smoked meat poutine, half a dack of ribs and chicken wings with the spicy sauce.First off, the smoked meat is decent. It's the rest we had some issues with.The ribs: the meat itself was okay but the sauce is what you would eat at a cheap chinese restaurant if you order spare ribs and so that was not the experience we were looking for at all.The smoked meat poutine: decent fries even though fairly white and undercooked, the cheese and sauce not so good.. not the real squicky cheese that we all love.. and at that price I feel we deserve better.. the real thing. The sauce is basically brown sauce with added cinamon or something like that and that was not something we enjoyed.The wings were okay and pretty cheap but the spicy sauce wasn't too tasty.. just spicy.The person at the cash was great and welcoming. The waitresses (not taking orders only delivering food at the table) were somewhat robotic.. I mean they were busy and most probably understaffed we get it..All in all, say we'd live 15 minutes away max (which we don't) we'd maybe go back for the smoked meat but we would not pay 100 bucks again for 2 people to taste different items from the menu as we don't feel it was worth doing so.

First time visiting this Montreal institution and I will definitely be a repeat visitor. Smoked meat is fantastic. You order at the counter before grabbing a seat. The staff are really helpful with recommendations. Expect a line.

Their smoked meat sandwich has a well deserved reputation for greatness. Juicy, tender and flavorful. I loved it. My only mistake was to also order the ribs, which were good, but the sandwich was by far the best. They also offer takeout which is packed properly for a flight. Glad I visited and I'll be back!
