When I first had to delve into getting a Certificate of Appointment of Estate Trustee, previously known as probate, was after the bank told me I had to go that route. Two different people at the bank said it takes a long time and it’s a big hassle. I started looking at the forms I needed and download it a bunch of 74 series forms and reviewed them and they seemed to be relatively straightforward except for the affidavits required and who had to sign them and small little details like that. Then I searched the rules of the estate court and read a few of the 18 pages and I thought if I don’t do something quite right they will reject it and I’ll have to start all over again. So I started doing an Internet search (what else) and McDonald Estate Services came up and the price seemed reasonable and they knew what they were doing and I was pretty much sold. I provided some details to Rachel and shortly there after she agreed to take on the case and so the process began. I just followed her lead and let her tell me what to do and when to do it. It went relatively smoothly. During this process I spoke to someone else who went the do it yourself route and they said they had to go back to the court three times, and wait in the long lineups, because of small spelling mistakes and minor technical errors in the form.I did think to myself along the way why is Rachel doing this and why did she type up that and small details like that. It was all completed in a short time, about three months. I received the certificate of appointment about a week ago (about 2.5 mths total after submission) and I was very pleased. I finally saw why she did certain things at the beginning that made things much easier and smoother down the road and also for me filling in the Ontario Estate Information Return which she advised me was relatively easy and so I tackled that myself.All in all, the process through McDonald Estate Services was top-notch and I give it my total approval and can’t say enough about how easy she made it.
