St. Basil Elementary/Junior High

This school was a significant part of my life and my transition into Canada when I immigrated here from Poland 21 years ago. It has allowed me to be around my familiar culture as I continued to learn to live in Canada and speak English. My 9 year old son has also been attending this school (since Kindergarten) so that he may have exposure to the Polish culture as well as accessibility to the close-by Polish Church to grow in faith and his Religious studies. The staff is genuine and there are some fantastic teachers at this school. Of course not everyone is perfect but the good ones are really good and well worth the 5 days a week trip from the outskirts of the Northside of Edmonton to this Central location. I highly recommend this school to all Polish children as well as non-Polish children to indulge in this passionate culture.

My son is attending to this school since kindergarten. I really like the teachers and how much they care for every student.I am happy that he is learning polish language and culture. It's also very important to me that school location is walking distance to the polish church.I have looked at other schools reviews and in my opinion this is the best school. I am hoping to send my daughter to kindergarten this year.

My daughter has been attending this school for 4 years. We do not live in the district for this school nor are we polish but have been welcomed in to the polish community with open arms. The teachers are very supportive and attentive. The school fosters a strong educational environment. Learning the polish culture and language is a bonus for us. I have asked my daughter every year if she would like to switch to a different school (in case the polish learning is too much for her) and she never takes the offer. Lastly, this school has an amazing out of school care and daycare program which is what drew us to the school initially. We thoroughly enjoy being part of the community - the church and local polish stores enhance what this school has to offer.

Great school for my daughter, coming from a Polish background ,learning the culture, traditions and the Polish language is important to our family. Great staff and teachers , 100% support this school.

My child's second year at this school. We are truly blessed to have this polish bilingual program in Edmonton. It helps us preserve the language skills, culture and traditions that kids otherwise can quickly forget. Also location is great - central Edmonton and very close in proximity to all other polish amenities (stores, polish hall and of coarse polish church). Polish or not I would strongly recommend this school to anyone.

This school has been the one of the greatest blessings for us. It is a great school that merges Polish traditions with Canadian standards of education. It is a place where our children can learn, stay connected to our community’s traditions, and get to know other children with Polish roots. Having a dedicated group of teachers who understand us, our children and our struggles as immigrants to Edmonton, made the transition much more bearable. Although, we live in the south of Edmonton and we chose to send our children there. It takes a lot of commitment to ensure that our children get to this school every day. Sometimes it is difficult – we need to get up early and return late home, but our and our children’s persistence speaks for itself.

Great school! Both kids going there since kindergarten. Great atmosphere/teachers and kids have made many friends and memories here. Great place to send your kids to the only Polish Bilingual school in all of North America. We are very lucky to have this right in our backyard. Polish culture, traditions and community are all valued here.

I have two kids and both of them is a current students at St Basil school. We are not polish, but we love this school and the way that all activities and programs are organized. All teachers and staffs are amazing and lovely with all students and even families. I considered change my kids from another school, because we don’t speak polish, but they love this school so much and ask me a lot to don’t change them because their friends, teacher and all cultural program that they be part... so we decided to stay and be one more family that love and support St Basil School.

Amazing school. Love the teachers and how much they care for every student.My son is really good at math so instead of having him bored in class he gets more work for higher grade. Love that.Love that he is learning polishLove hot meals which are healthy and tasty.Also walking distance to the polish church which is very important.There’s nothing bad I can say about this school. I have looked at other schools and in my opinion this is the best school. I drive my child to that school every morning 30 min. It is so worth it.

Great school. My daughter has been there since kindergarten. I can't imagine her going to another school. It is of great value that this school is cultivating Polish traditions, thanks to children will certainly not forget about their roots and may feel being a part of a large and unique community.It is also very important that our Polish church is in the neighbourhood.
