Blue Point Amethyst Mine

Fun afternoon picking up amethyst crystals with the wife.New owner was incredibly friendly and very knowledgeable regarding geology in the region.Shop has a selection of amethyst and various other minerals from the mine itself, as well as other minerals from around Canada.When compared to other picker mines in the area, the spoil piles you get to pick through are much more immense but at the same time they're spread out flat and easy to navigate and look through vs piles pushed into the trees at other locations.Only potential issue is that it is a cash only establishment10/10 would go again

I went to a couple of mines in the area, and highly recommend this one!The owner will provide you the tools to dig around the the piles and hammer open rocks. In other mines you either have to pay to rent the tools, or hammering is forbidden.A lot of amethyst is visible without having to dig around too much, so you can have fun finding treasures and hammering.The owner also has a nice sampler displayed showing all the different kinds of minerals you can find in the area and provided us with an educational explanation of different types are formed.BRING CASH.

The owner Jordan is super kind and knowledgeable. We learned so much and found so many beautiful pieces. We would definitely make the journey back again and again!

Collecting quality amethyst is a chore not for the faint of heart. Be prepared to get dirty and eating up by bugs. Overall, we had a pretty good time

This is the best amethyst mine in Thunder Bay area! Excellent specimens to be found! Don't forget to bring closed toe shoes and cash. The owner, Jordan, is so kind, helpful, and knowledgeable about minerals of all kind. I highly recommend visiting the Blue Points Amethyst Mine! They are open 9-5, 7 days a week.

Went to this amazing place early June, it's of Trans Canada Highway, about 30 mins off Thunder Bay, off to a rugged road for a few kilometers; once we got there, we were greeted by the owner Jordan who took over the business last year, he told us how the place works, gave us some tips on how to find the good ones, we had no equipment and he happily lended some to us! We spent a couple hours there and found some good gems! We were a party of 9 and Jordan was so patient and shared to my kids and nephews his own collection and taught them many new knowledge! Definitely a place to recommended everyone who travel to Thunder Bay and nearby!

Great mine experience. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the owner. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and his customer service was amazing. For those that didn't bring tools, he has extras that he will loan you. The prices are amazing and there is amethyst everything to be mined.

We had a blast mining our own amethysts and the owner was incredibly gracious with both his knowledge and lending us some tools and bucket to fill. Bring good shoes for digging around a few huge piles. Gloves, hammer, maul, and glasses would also help! Great prices too.

Amazing Amethyst dig adventure. Jordan, owner of the mine, is an incredible host allowing rock clubs private week long digs in the mine. Public is also welcome to dig the piles. Quality of the amethyst found is the best in the area, even material found in the piles is high quality fit for collections. Modest bathroom accommodations (outhouse). Of the mines in the area allowing the public this is the best, and a heck of a heap" of fun."
