We found this place accidentally. It was one of the coolest places ever. Not only was the staff knowledgable, friendly and kind. They made it a pleasure to visit and knew everything about every display and item in there. Clearly they loved their job and preserving the local history of the area. I was very impressed. I am not sure why they are not on Trip Advisor or in local things to do" well worth the visit"

I like small museums. They take just the right amount of time to visit, they are more personable and intimate especially with an educated staff, and are usually connected with the local area in some way. This museum has all of this, really great!

A local treasure trove of stories, artifacts and natural history. Whether you care about the history, nature or the art of salmon fishing, there is something to be cherished here. A library of antique books can help you learn increasingly rare skills and knowledge.

This was hands down the best stop we made during our time on the Cabot Trail! Worth the detour. Learned so much about the culture & history of the island, and those who made it home. Wish I could give it 6 stars.Lobster < Salmon

My parents are from the Margarees, long-tail families as my mother always said. She grew up by the Forks and Dad went to school in the building now the museum. Us 5 kids went from the U.S. with our own families and Dad in tow and we went to the Salmon Museum! It was awesome history for us and our Dad! Salmon was a big thing, and fly fishing, and as kids, we all swam in the river down by my Aunt & Uncle's near Tompkins Road (family name). My one brother got a salmon before we left! It took every day up there, but he got one the night before we left. My father's sister in the states had (afterwards) shown us a picture of herself, my father (her brother) and their younger siblings in the school house, now museum, when they lived in Big Brook. My mother's father was a salmon guide at the McDaniel pool and we were thrilled to see pictures of him at the museum. He was also in WWI and WWII with numerous medals including either a Bronze or Silver Star, Purple heart - a very impressive amount of awards for his service and bravery. My Dad recognized people everywhere we went or they recognized him, even at the museum. That was 2005. He left home in 1960 with my mother to the U.S. Us 5 kids are still in touch with our family up there and we stayed last at Lake O'Law. We hope to be back in summer 2021. The museum is a wonderful place to visit, and any descendants from the area!

This museum has an amazing number of exhibits of salmon, rods and reels and beautifully tied flies( lures). There's a great deal of history about fishing in the area. The lady who spoke with us made it all very interesting and easy to understand. It's a little off the beaten track, but worth it.
