Bach Children's Chorus

My grandson has been a proud member of this unbelievable choir for 3 years now. The friends he's made, experiences he's had, trips he's taken, the memories he's collected are all priceless! And that is not to mention the quality of music these kids put out. From sweet little kindies to young adults. I would highly recommend the BCC to any child.

BCC had been a great experience for both of my daughters. The older one will move onto university this fall with many memories of performances at the Distillery District, Roy Thompson Hall, and in a professional production with Opera Atelier! The younger one will get to travel to Nova Scotia on a choir exchange this month. A great way to meet new friends and explore Canada! The music and theory taught have been excellent and Charissa works hard to keep the programming quality excellent!

I have had children in the BCC since 2013 (10years) and truly believe that music is an important life skill. BCC takes their program very seriously through developing musicianship and choral excellence! The kids have had a lot of amazing opportunities between singing at sporting events, being a part of an opera production, and traveling in Canada to name a few.

My 4-year old recently completed a year of Kinderchoir and it’s been very positive. It’s one hour weekly on Sunday afternoons for this age. I wanted a strong focus on music education where the kids actually learn skills from effective teachers and also have fun and this is it. There was a short, friendly, one-on-one audition where they assessed following instructions and listening. My kiddo can now somewhat carry a tune and is jazzed to go to choir. The facility Scarborough Bluffs United Church has many places to sit and wait out rehearsal, lots of (free) parking and is wheelchair accessible. The Kinderchoir season ends in early May which allows for other activities once the nicer weather arrives. Some folks may like that rehearsals aren’t usually scheduled on long weekends. I highly recommend!!

My girls have been in the chorus for the past two years (they started at age 4). It is an absolutely wonderful musical community , head up by an amazing kind caring and incredibly talented Charissa . Carrie , the instructor for the kinder and prep chorus , is phenomenal and teaches musical literacy in such an accessible and fun way . It is a gift this wonderful chorus is part of the community. So great for the children’s confidence , ability to project beautiful voices , and making friendships . The recital two times a year is always something to look forward to and a celebration. Big thanks to Charissa , Carrie and team!

My two daughters (aged 11 and 14) just finished their fifth year with Bach Children's Chorus. We are so grateful for their highly dedicated and talented staff. We have to travel 45 minutes one way every week for rehearsals and we don't regret it at all. They have had many opportunities to grow musically, attend workshops, perform, make friends and will even go to Nova Scotia with the choir as part of an exchange program! We highly recommend this choir!

The BCC is a great place to learn sight singing and singing. My daughter started her journey as a singer 1 1/2 year ago with no prior knowledge of music. The BCC helped her so much, she made many friends who shared the same passion. The staff is very kind, patient and professional.They offer many extraordinary opportunities like participating in professional concert, video making and cultural exchange with other choirs.Really a safe learning environment and open to all !

My son has been part of BCC for almost 5 years now....he started his journey in Prep Choir, which was a wonderful introduction to music under the guidance and enthusiasm of Carrie Loring, through to Choir 2 and Charissa Bagan's incredible leadership!! This is THE PLACE to bring your child for premium musical education, community connection and involvement for all ages....the great thing is no experience or musical ability is required...the amazing staff teach vocal music and performance in such a fun and engaging way it doesn't feel like learning at all!! The choristers are all supportive of each other and really do enjoy getting together with friends weekly for practice/rehearsals. This organization goes out of its way to make sure each child is supported, encouraged, and has everything he/she/they need to succeed. In addition, the kids participate in special retreats and bonding activities, music festivals & competitions and seasonal performances that showcase the group's efforts and commitment as a team. There's a reason why this not-for-profit has been around since 1987, offering it's enriched program for ALL kids to enjoy. This group is nondenominational and sings music from a variety of genres, periods, cultural influences, artists and countries...constantly mixing up the repertoire! BCC is always welcoming/needing new voices....give them a call, even if you're unsure. 100% the best children's choir group in Toronto!!

All four of my children are members, with my oldest (15) being here for the last 10 years. That amount of time and dedication we’ve given the BCC, shows you how great they are. The leadership and organizational skills of the directors are very impressive, considering the amount of children and teenagers they teach at one time. If you have children that are talented, join them up and start them early.

Both of our children have been members of BCC and it's been delightful to see them grow in their musicianship, make friends, and perform in concerts across Ontario. Thanks to Charissa for her amazing leadership and to everyone involved in helping kids discover and share the joy of singing!
