Rewarding Dogs

I can not speak more highly of Mike and Rewarding Dogs! They have helped me and my collie x springer to gain trust and knowledge and overcome our problems. The tools you are provided with are unique to you and your dog. Mike is SO knowledgeable and you trust him implicitly!

Just got a puppy - thirteen years since we had one! - and wanted to do the best for him, particularly to stop him jumping up, chewing a mat and grass borders - repeatedly! Mike's assistance has been invaluable and over the years we have always been able to rely on him to solve any problem we seek his assistance with. Thank you, Mike. I have known Mike for several years - firstly through his excellent dog training classes and more recently when he has helped us with our two dogs, mother and son, who were acting as a pack and chasing everything, not listening to anything we said and occasionally not returning for several hours. We have had this particular breed for over 30 years and we thought we knew about training them. Obviously not!We had convinced ourselves that they would be on leads for the rest of their lives but with guidance from Mike we are on the way to turning it around. They now listen to us, have excellent recalls and walks are stress free. It's been hard work but worth it all. I would recommend Mike to anyone, not only for those with a major problem but also for those who just want a well behaved dog who is a pleasure to be with.

We turned to Mike at Rewarding dogs on a recommendation that he was very experienced with reactive dogs. Our Molly was a rescue dog that clearly had issues with all manner of moving objects including humans and other dogs. Fun huh? Over the course of a few sessions Mike taught us, and Molly, how to cope and how to improve. We had sought advice from a number of trainers before but Mike really knew what the problems were and how to deal with them. It takes time; it takes patience, but we now have a dog that is so much more able and has a full life with humans, and other dogs! Thank you Mike.

I was very impressed with Mike's strategies for assessing and training our young puppy Chinook. He was very patient and took lots of time to offer both theoretical and practical strategies for dealing with some problematic behaviour; tailoring everything to our specific issues and making sure that I understood and was comfortable with all the tactics used. I've seen a considerable difference in my puppy's behaviour in just under a week, by applying these concepts and feel confident that with consistency, we will end up with a very well-behaved doggo for many years to come. Following the assessment and initial session, Mike even hand-delivered a very thorough report covering everything we specifically discussed, as a guide to help us continue the modification programme, as well as additional ideas for structured play and further training. Mike visited us a couple of weeks ago and it was worth every penny. He was incredibly knowledgable and supportive in helping us find solutions to the challenges we have with our cocker spaniel, Fergus. Mike sent out written information for us to refer to within days of our meeting and has been in contact since for an update free of charge. Changing difficult behaviours takes time and effort from owners also so for people who are interested don’t commit unless you are prepared to put the work in yourself. Thanks again Mike.

Having tried two other trainers and gave up with them pretty quickly I heard about Rewarding Dogs and contacted Mike who came to the house and met us all and straight into training. After a few hours we knew we were onto something good. Mike wrote up a full training plan and was only an email or phone call away if he was needed. He assured us our problems could be sorted although, knowing our dog, we had our doubts. But a month or so in and what a huge difference there is. It's like our dog is starting to realise what he's supposed to do! It's still a work in progress but I am a lot more confident and we have a happy, well behaved dog. Can't recommend Mike highly enough and will use him again if we need help with any of our dogs .

I highly recommend working with Mike if you have any behaviour issues with your dog, the way in which he communicates training with both the dog and owner is fantastic and his wealth of knowledge is extensive. He has the patience and compassion required to assist through the whole process and is always at the end of the phone for advice. Issues will seldom be a 5 minute fix, but if you are willing to put the effort in, Mike is the right person to guide you. Cannot thank him enough for the support he has offered.

I can highly recommend Mike @rewarding dogs. He has helped me with my rescue dog Rexi who was socially anxious ,dog aggressive and very reactive to pretty much everything! Mike has a calm and assertive manor and approaches training methods in a very positive way. I had also attended Mike's training classes which resulted in my dog gaining his good citizen Bronze award which is proudly on display! I never thought we would get there at the beginning before Mike! I can highly recommend Mike and he is the only dog behaviorist and trainer I would recommend.
