Kel-Fen's Kitchen Chinese Restaurant

Their super saver meal is one of the best values in the entire lower mainland. This is a mom and pop place we have been ordering from for years, and they consistently deliver HOT delicious food. You can easily feed 4 people for about 30 bucks. Call them direct and they will deliver quickly. All these people writing reviews are insane for crapping on a small little business trying hard, shame on you. I even took a minute to help them by putting their new number on google took less time than writing a bad review for no reason.

When first found was happy with the food quality and taste. The veggies were fresh and crisp. 1 of my faves was Almond Chicken but the last 2 times ordered the chicken was old, and too stringy to even chew. Another fave was Ma Po Tofu but the last time had ordered it it had gone bad and made me sick. Kept ordering from them because they delivered. On the last delivery the veggies were overcooked, limp and soggy. It seems like they have no pride in their culinary art and do not care about the customer. Am sad because liked their food for a time. Hope no-one else had my experiences. Still have hope. All the best.

If you want to eat a bunch of greasy food, with no flavor, that sits in your stomach like a lump this is the place for you!My family has been eating here for years but given rising prices, we hadn't ordered for a while. To our surprise recently, when we ordered for our son's birthday dinner, it was not what we remembered. It had changed hands and even the basics, rice chowmein and sweet n sour all bland greasy and gross. Save your money or you will feel ripped off!

Looking for a new GO-TO for Chinese takeout close to home. Kel-Fen's is new to the neighbourhood (was previously Big Texx Burger), so their online presence is non existent. First off - I found in past experience that most Chinese take outs have a powerful smell when you walk in to them that isn't very flattering. Kel Fen's smelt like cooking - good cooking!Walked in, nothing fancy - looks like a take out only operation, a gentleman came out - who I will assume is Kel Fen? Took my order - Chicken Fried Rice, Beef With Black Bean Sauce, Dry Garlic Ribs and Sweet and Sour Pork. Price was under $55 bucks which is about going rate for Chinese takeout these days. He said it will be done in 20 minutes. He went back in the kitchen and could hear him whipping the woks. It was done in under 20 minutes, he gave me two canned pops for free, and even FORTUNE COOKIES, which you don't see anymore for some reason. It was neatly packed, piping hot and portions were generous in reusable containers. The rice was well cooked - lots of chicken and tasty, the sweet and sour was more sweet - which I like over the vinegar laced sauces that come in most other places. The beef in black bean was really tasty - but too many veggies for my liking (I don't like veggies really) but they were cooked nice! The Dry ribs was a GENEROUS portion, a little salty but nothing too bad. In all - you could see the love and care taken to prepare this food, even with the way he packages it, cuts his veggies, even for a hole in the wall. WE WILL DEFINITELY go back and try some other dishes he has on the menu. If you are in the Riverside shopping area and want a nice priced, great tasting basic Chinese takeout - I strongly recommend Kel Fen's. I will try and post some pictures - he looks like he needs some exposure on here!

First of all, they used to be on the street behind and were called Meng Seng kitchen. I did not know they had moved as I had an old menu and the phone number is the same. The old location still has the sign on the building too with no notice they have moved, therefore not immediately obvious! So I had a hard time finding it and had to call them back a few times. It is right next to the donair place on 108 near corner of 148 now. Please remove the old listing on Google! Food is mostly great except egg rolls were overdone. Everyone was happy with our dinner for 8, which fed 10 of us with leftovers. I will order from them again now I know where they are! I’m not sure you can dine in as the place is very small now. You get free stuff if you order over a certain amount and 10% off for pick up too.

I have to wonder, they are using another restaurant menu. They maybe under new management and name, but spend the money to get new menus printed for the new restaurant. I don’t see any of the old staff at this new location.

Great little spot in N Surrey for Chinese food. We have been going for years. Tried others but we always come back. Huge portion.

We ordered chicken balls and they didn't put any sweet and sour sauce on it or on the side I called and ask them wheres the sauce I had no idea what he was saying he hung the phone up on my husband then I tried I'm sorry but we paid good money on our food and after a long day at work we wanted them to deliver so I got upset and I did say please can you get someone on the phone that speaks English after all we are in Canada and your a business I will never order from this place ever again previous owners were alot better

I have order there so many times. Always hot! Chow mien, sweet and sour anything, fried rice anything. So good. Maybe there's certain items that aren't to everyone's taste. For example my favorite food is ginger beef, too die for... yet this place can have really bad ginger beef I can eat it most times but have got 1 or 2 bad batches or something. Great place you should give it a try. At least you'll get hot food

Unfortuantlely this has been the worst Chinese food my husband and I have ever had. I've never written a review before for anything but had to after having there take out. The shrimp hadn't been de-veined the noodles were awful and tasted almost old..I wish those were the only issues but it kept going.
