Hikari Cafe
Loved this place. It's a small cafe along 41st and Granville, used to be a run down bubble tea shop that we went to as a last resort; but, the new owners of this shop have renovated and made it a really cozy place to eat and socialize. There are only a few seats available, but that's what adds to the charm of this place. The food was great, and the service is what is expected from a mom and pop shop; excellent! I ordered the garlic steak fried rice, and teriyaki beef rolls. Everyone in or group was super impressed, and I'll be adding this to my go to place. Well worth the visit people!

Service was a little slow as there was only one person(the owner) working. The food was pretty good though

Visited this place last week and had a nice time. Fairly small cafe but, staff is really friendly.Had their oyako don, omurice and salmon oshi. Oyako don had nice tender chicken chunks and a sweet sauce. Paired with the rice really well. One of the best salmon oshi we've tried so far. The sauce that they had was really good. Omurice definitely could have been better. The rice inside I think did not have to be in a tomato sauce too. If it had been just white rice, would have been much better for me.Overall nice cafe to enjoy Japanese food.

Chanced upon this small cozy cafe and decided to drop in for lunch. I'm impressed. The service is amazing. The food is hearty and flavourful. Reasonable price. Cute deco and great music. The place is run by a Japanese couple, so you can trust that your Japanese food is made by Japanese. Gonna be my frequent cafe from now on :)

Cute little hidden place at Granville/41st!This side of town has very few restaurants, and although this says cafe, its much better than many restaurants I've been to. There are only 2 tables and seating for 4. Menu is quite extensive for a cafe. Service is fast and ingredients are fresh. My veggie rolls were the most delicious with fresh avocados and cucumber.Run by husband and wife team I guess Music is different yet Japanese, ambience is cosy and comfortable, and they also sell home made sauces and spice mixes. Only reasons why I didn't give 5 stars is when I paid for the bill and was waiting, she asked me how much change I want. I was going to tip anyway, but the way this came across I just left everything on the house. Also the bill they give is handwritten and not a proper one.

Great food, friendly staff, but there is lots of old furniture and boxes lying around. The kitchen is right behind the counter. We ordered the tuna tataki, spicy salmon don (my order), salmon oshi and chopped scallop roll. Tataki tasted fresh, but oshi tasted a little strange. Spicy salmon don is the best thing I've ever ordered. The spicy sauce is what makes all of it come together.

Cute small Japanese cafe with only 2 sitting tables. We went on a Fri night and was able to get seated. Food tastes pretty good overall but the portions just a bit small for the price. We spent over $70 for two donburi rice bowls (Beef Tataki & Oyako don), one Salmon oshi & one Saba oshi sushi and a matcha latte.

The chef is Japanese. The spicy Salmon don is the best that we have ever tried.
