I've been in multiple bjj clubs in multiple provinces and I can say with no doubt, that this one is one of the best. The instructors are great at explaining the moves, the whys and why nots. Rob, Erick and all the black belts are phenomenal teachers.

Welcoming to all, the pool of experience is deeper than anywhere around. Amazing place to train for adults and children. My son loves his time on the mats as much as I do. You wont regret coming to Royal City Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!

I’ve been training martial arts since 2012 and under Rob doing exclusively BJJ since I moved to Guelph in 2017. There’s no egos here, it’s a welcoming environment, and on any given class there’s at least 3 black belts which is really rare from my experience. There’s all ages and skill levels. The new location is in a convenient spot and it’s very clean. Nothing not to like!

I started here last September at the age of 46. Prior to moving to Guelph, I have trained at multiple other BJJ academies in the USA. Out of all of the places I have trained at, Rob Veltman and the team at Royal City BJJ are the best! Rob is an excellent instructor who is patient, detailed oriented, cares about each of his students and has created a culture/environment that is welcoming for all who come. You can tell the quality of a school and the instructor by the quality of its students. Ever since Day one, I have had many of his students spend time with me to help improve my skills quickly. I felt welcomed and was comfortable immediately. Rob and the coaching team are very respectful of everyone's individual training goals. There is a place for people who want to do this seriously and compete and for those who just want to find a fun way to get fit and healthy. I highly recommend this school for anyone who is interested in learning BJJ!
