Being from Toronto, my expectations for the ER dept were quite low. Surprisingly everyone I interacted with at the hospital was kind and compassionate. One of the administrative employees even offered patients warm blankets and water while in the waiting room. The process seemed very organized and streamlined from triage to the visit with the physician. My wait was only 5 hours which is very good considering average wait times in Toronto are 9+ hours. Dr. Devins was the attending physician and I really appreciated him taking his time to explain everything to me thoroughly - he certainly has excellent patient-centered care and compassion which I find is rare for ER physicians. I highly recommend this hospital and the doctor.

Absolutely amazing experience at the Belleville hospital! I went to emergency this weekend due to pelvic pain. From the moment I met the triage nurse till when I was discharged, I was very well taken care of. The nurses, technician and doctor were extremely sympathetic and helped me every step of the way. The wait wasn’t horrible - I registered around 6 pm and was done closer to 11 pm. It’s not ideal but some delays are expected. I felt like all my health concerns were addressed. My experience at other hospitals has been very negative. I would go hours without seeing anyone or hearing any updates. I really appreciate how helpful and pleasant everyone was at Belleville Hospital. Thank you so much!

Last Thursday afternoon (May 4th), I suffered a stroke and I would love to thank the following and absolutely amazing people who were sooo awesome in my getting back to almost 100%.First, my neighbour, Brian, who came to my aid in about 2 minutes and knew the signs of a stroke and called 911 immediately. Thank you to the wonderful and calm Brian and 911 operator. And to Cec who waited for the ambulance and escorted them to me.To the EMS staff (2 ladies and a gentleman - sorry don’t know names) who got to my home so quickly and were so professional and totally amazing and took awesome care of me so quickly and efficiently. Then to all the wonderful, kind, and fabulous staff (Doctors & nurses) in Emergency at Belleville Hospital who from the moment the ambulance doors opened, took over my care and were amazing. Sorry I can’t remember names, but you know who you are.And then to the wonderful, friendly and fabulous staff in the Stroke Unit - Dr. Robertson, Joyce (Head Charge Nurse), RPN’s, (Monique, and others - sorry forgot others names), PSW’s, my Physio & Occupational Therapist, cleaning staff and volunteers for their absolute wonderful caring and o patient dispositions - not just to me but to everyone on our unit. And to all the patients who I met who were amazing and who we had a lot of laughs with once we were at that stage. And to my friends who looked after TJ, my Westie, for me. I can’t thank you enough. And to all my family and friends who visited and phoned and messaged and were/are there for me. And my friends who sent me distance Reiki. ❤️I am soooo appreciative of everyone. THANK YOU, THANK YOU! ❤️❤️. It takes a village and it certainly did this time for me.I hear so much negativity about our Health Care system, so I wanted to share this positive experience. It is a very scary time when something like this happens. If it wasn’t for me knowing something was not right in my body, and ALL of the above people, I would not be home and as well as I am.CALL 911 if you don’t feel yourself. DON’T wait. The faster we get to the hospital, the better off we could possibly be.

Today is the 6th anniversary of my father's passing away. My father was a loved, independent 83 year old man. He had 3 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, and unfortunately, he was killed by this hospital. I am absolutely amazed by the level of this hospital's negligence and lack of accountability. I truly pray for each and every one of you that is forced to receive care at this St.Elsewhere facility"

Worst experience ever. My 1.5 yrs daughter got swollen arm as she fell down while walking. We came to emergency to see the doctor and 7 hours long , she was getting worst and kept on crying and no body took seriously. How can you expect that 1.5 yr old can sit this long? Hell system ever. In the name of free health care, this is what you get in Canada.

First time BGH Emergency in over 20 yrs. Was reluctant to go because of all the horror stories of wait times that seems to always be in the news. The ER was quite busy and I anticipated being there for a lengthy period of time. I was seen in triage about an hour after I arrived then moved to a secondary waiting room . While a long wait it wasn't unbearable. The staff at the ER were pleasant and professional. The young doctor who say me was respectful and extremely thorough. He interviewed me at great length and was nonjudgmental. I have never been at a medical appointment that was so thorough.I wish I could give a shout out to the attending physician but my hearing and senior memory won't allow it. The doctor even arranged a late in the day appointment with an ophthalmologist.Maybe I was lucky but all in all not the experience I was anticipating.

I give BGH 5 stars for care and nursing.I will suggest however that there is a need for family and caregivers that could be easily met. Our family experience at the Sills Wing encountered an absence of waiting area for family members waiting their turn to visit our love one. We live far and wide, not in Belleville, so we came when we could, often 3-5 at a time. We were moved out of various locations that looked like waiting areas. We found ourselves in the cold storage seating space outside the main entrance door. There is lots of inside space, just nowhere to sit and wait.Medical staff are very good and caring.

Surgeon and staff in pre op were fantastic and always reassuring! Afterwards waking up on 4th floor, was not always a good stay. Most of the nurses were a 5 forsure !One typical RN ruined my stay on 4th. Everytime I got her, I would be upset and easily cried. I had to get out of there for my best recovery at home.(even though I could have maybe needed another day of care!)!

I have been to a few emergency rooms over the years. The emergency staff were amazing to me. Ppl complained about Belleville, well go wait in Oshawa hospital for 12+ hrs and tell me how that was. Belleville is leaps and bounds better. To all the nurses and doctors... thank u for what u do.
