Maya's Favorite Fish and Chips

Great food. We had order of fish n chips and order of clams. Hot and fresh with short wait time. Service with a smile :)

I ordered a medium fish and chips. The breading on the fish was nice and thin but perfectly crispy that you could enjoy it without a lot of dough. The fish could be cut easily then melts in your mouth. The fries were less crispy than I normally like. The price is less than I expected for what they serve. I will definitely be going back again.

We ordered take out as although there are tables, a lot of cars come and go. Additionally there’s people filling up on propane right next to the tables and it’s next to the highway. The staff were friendly and personable. The food was very good, though the fish portion was on the smaller side in comparison to most places. I’d pop by for take out again.

Excellent take out food!I asked for my scallops to be grilled and it was no problem, they were delicious. I had a large portion of Digby scallops that were very fresh and the fries were hand cut and also fresh. The fish and chips was a very large portion of battered haddock that was cooked perfectly. Next time we will try the lobster. We will be back!

Maya's is a seasonal take out. Early and late in the season their hours can vary from what is shown on the site based upon the weather and availability of fresh fish.

Maya's is a great place to get your fish and chips! The batter is pretty light, and the fish is moist and tasty. The fam also enjoys the fried clams. Cannot wait to pick some up.Just make sure you bring cash since they don’t take cards. There is an ATM in the Esso right next door.

Had the Neptune platter recently. The fish was okay but extremely small (fish stick size) and greasy, only had 2 small scallops hidden in the pile of greasy fries and for the clams I'm almost 100% sure they came from a can. They were extremely small and very soggy. One fork full would have taken them all. It may have just been an off day but for the amount and the quality of the food I was very disappointed.

I had family visiting from Ontario and, after a great visit to Peggy’s Cove, we went looking for a place to have lunch on the way back. Everywhere we saw seemed really busy, and then I remembered Maya’s from having been there last year.So good! The 17-year-old loved her hamburger and fries and we four adults thoroughly enjoyed our seafood: one order of two pieces fish and chips, and three orders of scallops and fish nibblers with fries. The fish and scallops were perfectly cooked with a light crisp batter.And talk about generous! I had more scallops on my plate than I got at a restaurant in the city and for much less. The out-of-towners were extremely happy and I was relieved that Maya’s is still such a great place.5/5 stars.
