I was very skeptical when my husband told me Bishop Diesel could rebuild his injectors in 3 days for 1/4 of the quote we had after he took it there because his Duramax Diesel was smoking badly. They did the job in 2 and 1/2 days and my husband had the truck on long journeys since with no smoke at all. The truck runs like new. We highly recommend Bishop Diesel.

I would like to share my experience with Bishop Diesel Services, which was not a positive one.In June of this year I noticed that my truck was suddenly losing power. The speed would drop to 5 km per hour. I drove my truck to Bishop Diesel for service. I explained the problem to Martin and I also told him that the truck had problems starting in the winter when the temperature dropped. He told me that the problem may be the injectors, glow plugs, or maybe even the fuel pump. The following day I received a call from Martin and he said that the injectors needed to be replaced and he quoted me $3,600 for replacing the injectors. I specifically asked whether this price included parts and labour and he confirmed that $3,600 was the “all in” price. During our conversation Martin never mentioned that there was a problem with the glow plugs or the fuel pump. When I picked up the truck once the work was completed I was given an invoice for $4,174.15. Almost $600 above the quoted price. I asked about the extra $600 charge and was told that this was a “diagnosis” charge, which did not make sense, as we already agreed that the injectors should be replaced. As I needed the truck for work immediately I paid the invoice. When I drove the truck away from Bishop Diesel Services, after a few hundred meters my truck again lost power. The same problem re-occurred.I drove the truck back to Bishop Diesel Services and spoke with Martin’s son. I told him that the same problem re-occurred and that my truck was not fixed. He looked very embarrassed and suggested that the truck must be experiencing an electrical problem. I left my truck with Bishop Diesel Services and they concluded that the injectors were not the problem. The problem was actually with the electrical circuit, which was then replaced free of charge. In September of this year when the temperature dropped, my truck would again not start. I called Bishop Diesel Services to ask how much it would cost to replace glow plugs. I was quoted at $530.00, which I agreed to. The following day Martin called me to say that they had problems with unscrewing the old glow plugs and had to spent extra time on the job, he did not at any time tell me that he would be charging me for this. After the work was completed one of my employees picked up the truck and I called Bishop Diesel Services to provide payment over visa. The charge on the invoice was $1,275.60, this time $745 more than what was quoted. When I ask why, Martin said that he charged me $312.50 for another diagnosis and an additional cost for labour for removing the old glow plugs. Because the price of the actual glow plugs was $312.50, I was charged over $962.50 for labour for the replacement of the glow plugs.Out of curiosity I went to the Jack Carter Chevy dealer and asked how much it would cost to replace the glow plugs in my truck. I was told 2.7 hours for labor at $165.00 per hour plus $440 for the glow plugs. This amounts to $885.50.Lesson learned. Be smart and don’t accept a verbal quote from Bishop Diesel Services. In my experience it was never accurate. I also noticed that Bishop Diesel overcharges and does not call its customers for pre-approval if the scope of the work exceeds the scope of the initial estimate. You may therefore find yourself in a situation where work is being done on your vehicle that you did not approve. Learn from my mistakes. I will no longer be taking my vehicles to Bishop Diesel for service.

Update may 19th. Martin over charged me and will not return the calls after many attempts. My e brake failed and was not done right as well forgot to add that in. Quoted $680 for all my work then my bill ended up $1412 with no extra other work done and almost getting into an accident with brake line and sensor not done right. I have had work done at Bishop diesel before Martin seemed to give me a fair price. The last time I took my truck in was the first week in March. I told Martin I have a brake line that needs to be replaced and e brake needs to be fixed before I start using it for summer. He gave me a price of $680 after looking at my truck. My truck is old and rusted like every old truck. When my truck was ready to be picked up I was in the west side of city and couldn't make it until later so I gave Martin my credit card over the phone he made a song a dance up that it took longer and the price was a bit more then expected because of the rust. I said no problem I thought maybe an hour or 2 more I get it. I go pick up my truck he left the invoice on the seat and I got home. I went home looked over the invoice and listened to my voice message as I deal with many numbers all day long and didn't remember what he quoted. $680 was the estimate and the bill came out to $1412.00 with no extra work being done. They even charged me a full hour for diagnostic when I told them over the phone what the problem was and left a note on the front seat what was needed. That's not the end of it. While I was driving home my brakes were not working properly. When stopping I rolled an extra 5 foot approx. They did not clean off the abs sensor properly when they installed a new one. Also they didn't use a machine to pump the air out to the abs module. I took the truck back to the shop the next day and his son hooked up the snap on tool to pump out the air. After doing that it helped a bit but still the same issue of the rolling after I apply full brake when stopping. I was like ok and left. I called martin and he said I need a new ABS module which is about $1000 fix. Martin just guessed and I really don't like spending a grand on a guess. I have a little knowledge about this stuff and have friends who where away that are mechanics and they said that's guessing go take it to another mechanic and so I brought my truck into the dealer and they looked at the problem. The mechanic said You do not need an abs module. The ABS sensor was not cleaned properly which will cause low speed to rolling like I was getting. After getting my truck fixed by an other mechanic I called Martin explained he said Monday we can sort it out when he is at the shop. He never called Monday, , Tues, Wed, I called Thursday he didn't answer. I left a message and said Martin you quoted me $680 for all the work and the Bill was $1412 no other extra work was done. He also forgot to mention to me initially that he wanted to put in a used brake line. I would have never let that happen as you can go on many places to find a brake line coil for cheap like Amazon $21 bucks or stainless steel. I asked Martin to do the right thing and refund me for the extra inflated costs as clearly your work was not done right and I verified by another mechanic. I have called many times to get a part refund as that would be fair and Martin will not call me back. I cant believe Martin from Bishop wont call me back and refund me for part of work that was over changed and not done right and almost got me into an accident. I have waited until the end of the month to write a review hoping Martin would at least call me back. I don't like to write a bad review if a company will resolve the issue but ignoring this is just bad business and I felt this needed to be shared.
