Kris' Fish & Chips

Un buen lugar para comer este tradicional fish & ship, el combo más famoso son papas, pescado aplanado y una cerveza por un precio accesible, debes llegar con tiempo y paciencia por qué es un lugar bastante concurrido, en general todo bien menos las papas me parecen que se pasan de grasa.Recuerda llevar un billete de tu país para que dejes un recuerdo de tu visita en el muro de los billetes, para finalizar la visita al lugar te recomiendo un helado, hay de varios tipos pero el mejor para mi gusto es un cono de vainilla cubierto con chocolate.

Absolutely incredible fish and chips shop. Quick service, made fresh right on the spot. Options include pan fried or battered. The fries are amazing and the fish is brilliant. Comes with tartar sauce and pub-style condiments such as white or malt vinegar and ketchup for the fries. A must-stop place for any people visiting Gimli. Had the battered pickerel.

3 stars for the fried pickerel fillet, coleslaw and ice cream. You just have to be patient coz I've waited 20-25 minutes before I got my order. If you can see the photo of my order, I paid $18.75 for 2 scoops of mash potato, 2oz of coleslaw 2 fillets of pickerel, tiny piece of brown bread, not including drinks and ice cream.

Too bad I didn't have a chance to make a picture of the meals, as soon as the food was brought it was gone ;) We got haddock and cod meals and it was amazing! 2 large portions is more than enough for three people to share. Fish is very tender and tasty, cooked perfectly. I would add more salt to the fries.I really like the lodge with its rustic look and atmosphere. Location is perfect. Open for dine-in with little seats to obtain the social distancing. Very hospital and helpful staff. You can pay by credit/debit cards or by cash. Food served hot and with good quality. Don't forget to take some photos with these old designs on the walls. Take your soft serve ice cream before leaving. They serve the ice cream from take away window.

Pickerel available gluten free waa a bit overcooked. Regular Pickerel and chips was slightly disappointing. Table was a bit dirty with lots of flies around. Won't rush back but gf pickeral didn't make wife sick so that's always a good thing.

I’m not sure why this place gets such great reviews. I mean the pickerel is great but it is at most if the places in Gimli. The fish burger, while having a decent size piece of fish is otherwise small and boring (Go to Beach Boy for theirs) and for $15.95 for a 2 piece order of fish and chips you would expect more than freezer fries. Come on, isn’t half the show of a “fish and chips” place the chips? Freezer fries? There are other places to go in Gimli where they will give you real fries. I’m not even sure the onion rings are house made. They taste more home made at A&W.Edit: looking at old reviews it seems that at one point they were giving housemade fries (as their menu specifies)I contacted the restaurant and they informed me that when they are busy they do in fact switch to frozen fries but don’t tell you at the time, you can figure it out when you get your meal.

2020 it’s take out only at the moment. Same great food.Awesome pickerel cheeks. All fish dishes are great, ice cream is fantastic. Prices reasonable.

Found this little gem right across the hotel. The pickerel was delicious and it was not as oily as i expected. Good servings plus friendly staff! Definitely a good place to eat at while at Gimli!
