We did the trip to Friendly Cove and back a few years ago. We spent a hour or so with the natives. It was an absolutely great way to send the day on a working ship.

Had a great time! We took the day cruise to Friendly Cove. The crew were all friendly and helpful. The Captain gave information on points of interest, and stopped the boat when a pod of Orcas swam under the boat. We waited several minutes, but they did not perform, so we got under way. Lots of good food-muffins, chilli, home made soup. Ample indoor or outdoor seating. Beautiful cruise!

Nice staff and crew onboard. The views were great. There’s a cafeteria on board for those who forget a lunch. Bring a jacket even on the sunniest days as it gets cold on the water.Would recommend for family or getaway, great experience and nice way to see a part of van island/Nootka island. Thanks again for the great service!

If you can make it out to Gold River to take the ride to Yuquot...DO IT. Amazing crew, beautiful boat and the scenery along the ride and in Yuquot is absolutely stunning. To the Tim" type reviewers and those that leave less than a 5 star review for this experience with no explanation

It has been a few years since I've been on this cruise but I have experienced it more than once and would highly recommend that even if you've done it once, do it again, your experience will be very different but just as amazing. Nootka Island is a magical place, you can feel it as soon as you arrive and the cruise is outstanding, comfortable and safe. Perhaps I will do it again in the future I certainly hope so,

We are so glad we did this, got to see some amazing places that you will never see any other way. Now with that said you need to be a patient person, It is after all a working vehicle and there are a lot of stops where you just sit there dong nothing for 30-60 minutes. Most of our stops was to Salmon farms. I don't really see kids enjoying it all that much. Food was good and at a reasonable price. Wild life was great, saw seals, sea lions, a wolf, eagles hunting, and just about every kind of bird you can think of.

The Nootka Sound is a hidden crown jewel of BC! GetWest Adventure offers a variety of day trips around this area, aboard the UChuck III cargo ship. I went on the Friendly Cove Day Tour (Saturdays) and had a terrific experience. It is a 3 hour cruise from Gold River to the lighthouse and First Nations settlement in Friendly Cove. Tuck into a hearty bowl of chilli from the ship's galley while you admire a backdrop of alpine mountains, deep blue water, and lush islands.

Amazing day from start to finish. Service on the boat was awesome, scenery amazing and Friendly Cove incredible. Thanks Uchuck III crew, see you next year!

This was a fantastic experience. We took the trip to Friendly Cove/Yuquot. The crew is friendly. The ship is historical and comfortable to ride on, and the galley serves tasty food. The tree- covered mountains of the channel are gorgeous and restful to view. The ride is relaxing, allowing for friendly chats with other passengers. We were fortunate to see a pod of Orcas along the way. At Yuquot we enjoyed meeting master wood carver Sanford Williams and eating blackberries along the trails. Service in the office is beyond accommodating-they squeezed us in even though we made a mistake on our reservation AND they helped us get dinner reservations at a wonderful restaurant in Gold River.

A beautiful scenic route, but 1 1/2 hours was not long enough to spend at the destination. Friendly crew.
