AgeCare Malaspina

Our mum has been a resident at Chartwell Malaysia for almost 2 years. Staff are very caring, her roo. Is large and comfortable, and we her family are kept apprised in a timely manner of any concerns.Through the COVID pandemic they worked hard to keep residents safe and family in the loop. When an outbreak occurred they were on top of it quickly and efficiently, containing it and preventing it from spreading.We are glad that our mum is at Malaspina and recommend it without hesitation.

My sister and I moved our mum into Chartwell Malaspina last week and we have nothing but wonderful things to say about the Chartwell staff and and the facility itself! Our mum was in Nanaimo Hospital and was ready to be transferred to a care home, and so we were doing our best to find one for her. Timing, luck, perseverance and guidance from our mum's doctor, long term community case manager, social worker and liaison and the Chartwell staff made it all happen within a week just before I was due to return to England, and I'm very thankful and appreciative to say the least!! Chartwell is beyond what I expected and imagined a care home to be, and the staff are phenomenal at what they do and how they take such great care of their residents. The facility is clean, cheerful, welcoming right from being greeted by Donna at reception to meeting the lovely nurses, kitchen staff, porters, maintenance staff, etc. and speaking with Greg, Leslie and Lydia in management!! Thank you so much for being such a fantastic place and for being so reassuring to my sister and I. I have returned to England with a sense of relief knowing that our mum is being well cared for. It will take time for her to settle and we know she will under your wings to protect her. I just spoke with her a few minutes ago and she was finishing her breakfast with a friend. Wonderful! My mom just moved into Malaspina Chartwell Gardens in early July of this year, in an emergency situation, after being evicted with 30 days notice from her assisted living facility in Courtenay. From the first conversation with staff when she was offered her room, to now, staff have been nothing short of wonderful to work with. I live on the other side of the country and got to visit in October for the first time. It is a beautiful facility and all of the staff were extremely friendly, many of whom went out of their way to come and introduce themselves after many phone conversations over the months.My mom has Alzheimers and is in the memory care unit and I only have amazing things to say so far about all of the staff that I deal with there on a regular basis. Communication is excellent and I truly feel like they care very much for their residents. I feel very blessed to have my mom here. Being so far away, it gives me great peace of mind.

Terrible place to work. Residents don't have any one on one. Not worth putting a family member in there

Unfortunately- you’ll never get a real opinion if someone has all the early signs of old ageThe reality isn’t a pretty picture. I’ve been the brunt of many HCA’s who have way to much time on there hands . Besides taking extensive breaks , texting on company time and ignoring the simplest residents requests. For example- entering my room ?All of my worldly possessions have been scrutinized and or stolen . Today was no exception. Heading back from breakfast.I noticed some clown had placed sticky tape on top of my name - with a purple dot .I’m I was such a problem - it was only because of the people in this place , who attack me on a personal level. I don’t appreciate it when Connie does those things- sets a bad example for the subordinates that also work here . Maybe she needs to be sent to another floor .

Honestly its been an uphill struggle dealing with the incompetence. Grievances are ignored issues are never resolved. And no one wants to talk. Theyre afraid to speak out. Sadly there isnt even a advocates speakingOn my behalf. Let alone the dozens of unreported incidents. Sort of swept under the rug mentality. InhouseDealt with ? Arrogant management is absolutely clueless . Contrarily to what they think or or be willing toAdmit to. Institution mentality flows evenly even to places like chartwell. In a perfect world democracy would allow some of us to have a say i, especially in regards to irate nurses.
