Dove House

Our 85 year old mom only lasted 24 hours at Cathedral location after spending 2 months happily at Wm Booth convalescent. Not sure what all went on, I do know her 1st night I found her in her PJs at 6:30 lined up to watch tv, a staff member moved her upstairs to her room on chair lift without seatbelting her! At bedtime it took over 45 minutes to get someone to respond to her call button. The person took her to washroom then tried to put her to bed without brushing her teeth & removing dentures. Next morning I got a call mid morning that I needed to talk to mom, she was frantic. I wasn’t allowed up until after lunch. When I arrived I could see she’d been crying for a long time! My mom doesn’t cry and goes with the flow. No idea what happened as she has short term memory issues. She had tried to leave several times & threatened to escape to die in a snowbank… that is not my Mom! We as a family decided to take her home until we figured out what was going on. I called owner, she never asked what happened, if she could do anything to fix it, or showed zero interest in what may be wrong. Her only words were Well you’re still going to have to pay for a full month… yikes! So not caring.

I personally know from 1/1 care experience working with Dove House for 15 years that our staff- who I’ve witnessed care for over hundreds of seniors who have bonded with staff like family and have been personally invited to family celebrations put in hours of time building connections with each person who is cared for.
