Nice as always. The new dock is beautiful as is the breakwall. Hopefully the store also opens this year. Its a diamond in the bush. Try to make a trip there every year ones or twise. Lovely place.

Silver Islet Mine was an amazing sight to see. These pictures were taken last summer and this was the second time we have kayaked out to them. If you plan on kayaking out to see the mine shafts or really anywhere else on Lake Superior please do so with extra caution as Lake Superiors conditions can change at any given moment without warning. There have been many times in which there was no wind, no waves, no cloud coverage at all and then in a blink of an eye the winds can change drastically and before you know it, you’re in the middle of a storm. So please always be aware of your surroundings.

Its pretty and a nice drive. However it is not so much a tourist destination as a private village now. The famed General store is not operational. So meh!

Silver Islet is Known as the world’s richest silver mine, Silver Islet’s mine shaft was beneath the icy waters of Lake Superior; a small yet significant piece of information that was missed by some of the miners before arriving. Though the majority of the miners stayed to do the job that they were hired for, some of them decided that travelling into the belly of the earth, underneath billions of litres of water was just a little too dangerous for their liking.

5 stars for super cute cottages by the sea. Wish it hadn't been foggy...would have been great to paddle instead of walk through this tiny place with so much history.
