Often crowded (even last year, during the height of COVID), and often noisy (especially during summer, when the horrifically loud Music in the Park begins). Businesses (shops/banks/restaurants) close early and often open late, and there's only one large grocery store. If you don't want overpriced food or items then your options are very slim.Trains frequently delay cars, but pedestrians will have a very rough time here (especially with the yellow bridge currently closed). Expect delays and detours (10-15 minute walks, depending), and expect them often.Even worse, it's arguably the most dangerous part of town. Crime is both severe and common, from random beatings to theft. Don't go out walking at night, and don't go alone. Avoid alleys and other sketchy-looking areas.If you're driving or if your walks are brief, then you should be fine. If you're in a grouo then you should also be okay.If you live here and walk everywhere, though, then always be on your guard. Much like the city itself, this isn't the safe, welcoming community that people make it out to be.The only reason why I gave it a two is because all buses run through here. Otherwise, any cons far outweigh the pros.PSThis place popped up after I searched for Kamloops LGBT friendly". Don't let the result fool you; people here are NOT tolerant towards anyone here who is perceived as "different"

Beautiful place to visit ♥️

Was a nice day trip into the downtown core. Wonderful park, clean wide sidewalks. A fun foot bridge to climb with the kids.

Nice place to relax. Or if you want to take a dip into the cool thompson river during those hot sunmer days, you can do that too. Plenty of summer activities.

The best residential area and love to have a walk around all the climates

There are a couple downtown's in Kamloops but this is the best one. Victoria has a downtown Kamloops that just doesn't compare.

Ample parking. Streets and sidewalks were clean. People out enjoying the Sun.Hotel 540 staff were conscientious professional in dealing with individuals and Vaccine passport requirements.

Downtown Kamloops is where it's at! Come on down and walk Victoria St. Lots of good stuff there.

Love it! Outdoor patios, funky stores, great restaurants —gotta try the new Afro-fusion one — right next to a gorgeous park.

My first experience with their Thursday prime rib night...delicious. Good service. Recommend reservations!!
