The Maids Cottage
Finally, I had the chance to try the famous butter tarts from The Maid's Cottage. It is simply delicious. It is worth it to cross the city. The tarts are really special, taste so good, so fresh. Definitely, it is the best butter tart ever.All the different flavors make it even better. The lady who works there is such a nice person. The only problem is that the store is too busy, but I understand. Everyone wants the same nice things as me. Nice places usually are very busy.

A wonderful bakery centred on selling butter tarts in the heart of Main Street, Newmarket. The buttery smell of warm tarts hits you as soon as you open the door. The bakery is nicely laid out with a counter in the front displaying all of the goods. They don’t only sell tarts, they do also feature caramel apples, various squares and take-home goods.I got a half-dozen box of assorted tarts. They are a little pricy, however they are so worth it! One box of 6 tarts is $21 before tax. Amazing meals and desserts. We regularly get frozen pre-made meals and pies to heat at home (makes the house smell amazing). And their fully prepared turkey dinners are our go-to for many holidays each year. Highly recommend Maids Cottage - you should follow them on social media to see updates on things like the holiday meals pickups.

Best butter tarts I’ve ever had. Pecan has become my favourite flavour after having it here. No wonder it won the award for best butter tart. It is worth the drive!

I went there for the first time last weekend. I had a butter tart to start with. I absolutely loved it. It was a bit too sweet for my taste but with the crunchy bits it was delicious! Breakfast was really good too. There was hair in my food and our server Mary immediately took it back to the kitchen and waived my food from the bill. I think that was a really nice gesture. I was really happy with the food and service and am looking forward to going back for some more tarts :)

Best tart ever! One day I was driving and listening to radio, a lady on the line was talking about her business’s situation in Newmarket, Ontario during the pandemic and was saying we did really good during the lockdown because of our tarts so I searched the location and gave it a nice try!I tried plain, maple pecan, raisin and all was out of this world. I forever to take picture but next time I go there I definitely take some and will share.Update:Today again I went there and bought some tarts and delicious and fresh as always.

Can tell why they have the award for best butter tarts!The butter tarts were so buttery and sweet. And when eating butter tarts, sweet and buttery is the way to go.The butter filling is so smooth and thick and just coats the tastebuds so nicely.The cool thing about this spot is try have a ton of different butter tart flavours and seasonally appropriate ones too! On top of that they have frozen meals available to just throw in the oven and also a slew of different treats that will satisfy everyone.Had these a while back and reviewing them now as I was going through my camera roll. Had them around the fall time.Service was awesome! Everyone is super friendly including their regular customers whom I got into quick convos with.Great job overall!Follow me on IG @thirst_and_taste for better pics, vids and more amazing content!

I respect this place has been around forever and is the jewel of Newmarket. Sausage rolls are fabulous.I used to stop by and order their brownies which I thought the best I ever had. After not being there for a few years,I was surprised recently to see they have changed them they now resemble cupcakes and they are now in a plastic clam shell packaging. Don't look homemade at all. The brownie still tastes the same although it's extremely thick and the icing is not what I remember (falls off top of brownie, dry). They seem to be prepackaged in fours or twelve minis. I was so disappointed, they look mass produced and I don't understand why they changed them from the traditional squares with much less packaging.Unfortunately I will not be picking up brownies here again.
