Awesome place to stay. Clean and cute rooms. Friendly staff. Easy walking distance into town.Accommodating for gluten-free diet, including in-house fresh pizza!Direct property access to a lovely forest/lakeside trailThe owner also has very friendly dogs who greeted us :)

An excellent place to stay for location, food and accommodations. Dave was a great host, welcoming us and allowing us to check in early. Our room was very spacious and clean. Good water pressure and hot water on demand for the shower. A separate common area with a large TV was available, if you did not want to use the couch and TV in your room. There was a lovely trail within walking distance that we enjoyed. It followed the road for a bit then a small body of water and stream. Saw two bald eagles up close. Breakfast in the morning was freshly made by Dave and plentiful. He makes a great porridge bread, which I highly recommend having for French toast. Good value for the cost of the room and breakfast.

We loved our two nights at Mabou River Inn. We wish we could have stayed longer.Apt 1 was a great space for our family of 4 - large, clean, comfortable, well appointed for self catering.The staff were friendly and helpful.The made to order breakfasts were the best we've had in Nova Scotia.We enjoyed lunch at the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre in Judique. We had a great dinner listening to live music at the Red Shoe pub. And we were thrilled to spot 4 otters when we walked by the river.

We stopped at the Mabou River Inn on the way to the beautiful Cabot Trail.It had all the comforts and amenities of a 4 star hotel while feeling comfortable and homey. The property was very well kept. It had lots of parking and was a little over a half mile from gas and groceries if you felt the need for it.We were 4 adults and a kid so we took the apartment. It had two bedrooms, a kitchen, living area, dresser/ baggage area for shoes and coats and an entry area with lots of nooks, and a front porch with seating.Rooms had dressers, standing fans, closets, etc. The family room came with AC and fireplace. There was dining table that could seat 4.The decor had the look and feel of a boutique hotel with a personal touch. The bathroom was spacious. There were tons of outlets to charge all our electronics.The breakfast was included and very generous. Pizzas at this place were pure heaven and seemed to be a great hit locally as well judging by the number of takeouts in the evening. The owner makes the dough in-house.Since we were on a road trip, it was a great pit stop to do laundry ( coin laundry - not in room) and rearrange gear. We had a really pleasant stay. We were very well rested, organized and refueled for the rest of the journey. The owners were very attentive and hospitable, friendly and informative and seem very invested in preserving their environment.

Very, clean, comfortable, large room, mattress was especially good,king size bed. Windows open for fresh air.We enjoyed the made to order breakfast and home made bread, the porridge bread was excellent.Service was fabulous.Close to Glenora distillery where we had a very good supper.

I was very disappointed because when phoning to inquire about rooms for my wife and I as well as her sister and husband the girl at the front desk said she only had two rooms left so we would need to take one each. When we checked in we found that our room was a complete 2 bedroom suite which would have suited us well. I immediately went to the owner and asked if we could all stay in the suite and cancel the the other standard room. He said he couldn't do that because they would lose out on the rental of it. So I asked about a discount to each room as a result but he refused.I explained the situation to him but he chose to believe the teenager at the front desk had told me about the suite when I called the previous night which was absolutely not true. For this reason I would not stay there again.

The host was over the top helpful. He makes the best scrambled eggs I’ve had! This was accompanied by thick slices of homemade bread.

The Inn was the cleanest we saw our whole trip around Cape Breton. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was made fresh for us not just a buffet of dried food. I wish the other locations we stayed at had been so nice.

Lovely place to stay! All the staff were so friendly and really make this place extra special. The breakfast was delicious, and the room was clean and well-appointed. There’s a guest kitchen where we were able to make dinner a few nights, and the grounds were inviting. Highly recommend!

FANTASTIC! ... is the best way to describe this Family run Inn here in Mabou. Very friendly service and welcoming.Great location just off the highway and beside the Celtic Shores Costal Trail.Our room was basically an apartment with huge kitchen, living room and two bedrooms. Our room also had a full size washer and dryer.While the unit may not be exactly the latest in modern, it was fully functional, clean and well maintained.Their water pressure was incredible making a hot shower one of the best I've had in a long time in any hotel or inn.The included breakfast was awesome, and very generous servings.You have to try their home made bread French toast as it is by far the best I've had and literally melts in your mouth.While we are only staying a single night, we definitely will be booking here on our next trip to Cape Breton for sure!
