About the Business

Reversing Falls Rapids / #ExploreNB / Tourism New Brunswick | A unique phenomenon created by the collision of the Bay of Fundy and the Saint John River. At low tide the river empties into the bay causing a series of rapids and whirlpools. As tides rise they slow the river current for a brief period called slack tide. The Bay's tides continue to rise, gradually reversing the flow of the river; rapids form again, peaking at high tide. A 8.5-metre (28-foot) tide cycle is roughly 12.5 hours.

Fascinating experience! Stopped here on a trolley tour for about 15 minutes. Very interesting the way the water flows from two directions.

Likely the 2nd best viewing spot of the Reversing Falls. Might be a better area to view the rapid speed of the falls moving either way. There's many parking spots, and the walk isn't far to the viewing platform. Be sure to check the tidal times, as they can very daily.

It is exciting to see and compare the flow of water into the bay and back to river at high tide. The skywalk view from the top is also good. One can step down and get close to the river mouth and see the flow for free. About 100 + stairs are a bit chalenge but worth the view.

I don’t think I was there at the correct time as it didn’t look like anything special. I was there around 4pm. I’ll have to try again tomorrow at a different time. I’mThinking low tide would be the best but I’m not quite sure. There was a decent place for parking and a nice boardwalk around the area. There are stairs down to get closer to the water for better viewing.

Lots of parking space, but the small road leading to the spot is in pretty rough shape. Once you're there though, the view of the river is amazing. Try to ignore the factory across the water though. We went a Monday morning and there was nobody there but us.

Not too many steps to come down to the observatory deck. It is close enough to the water. The parking is free and plenty.Check for high or low tides to observe the reversing flow effects.

You want to go her at high and low tides to see the difference… really cool to see.

Getting there at the right time is good. Hop on off bus used but spaces limited when it comes to pick up 30 wait or more

I'm sure this place is more impressive at high or low tide. One of the things that ruined it for me is the large power plant across the river. If you are in Saint John, it is one of the sites to see, but I wasn't impressed.
