Bottom line - I feel lucky that I ended up with Lesage Excavations doing my French drain. And if you would like some details - please read on.My basement was wet for a while. When I decided to renovate it, and took the floors and walls off - this became obvious. I have some experience in construction, so it was clear to me, that my french drain is either missing or not working as it should. No surprise - my house is 1953. So I started calling contractors. The first one came in, made an estimation and presented me with a fork of $25,500 to $33,500, which was a shock, since I don't screw Bill Gates' daughter. Another guy gave me 15 K price with taxes on top, but I'd have to pay extra thousand for removing and taking away my concrete sidewalk that goes from the street to my side entrance. And extra thousand for taking out my cedar hedge and extra for removing my emergency stairs and extra for the whole lot of other things. Yet another guy told me that I won't get it any cheaper then 130$ per foot, and I had 150 feet to dig. Total of 7 contractors visited my place. Before Lesage Excavation guy came to me, I was already fixing things towards doing the job myself. I found three people - to work an excavator, a loader, and one general helper. I found where to rent all machines, where to buy gravel, membranes... It took me quite a while to come up with a complete plan, and a price list for that plan ended up being just shy of 12000$. And I 'd have to be there and supervise. So I'd have to leave my work. But then an estimation from Lesage came in. They offered to do a job for the price I could afford and I decided to go with them. They completed the job in under 5 working days, and that was with two major, unforeseen complications. First - being a hidden staircase that led to a door that was no longer there. Apparently, one of the previous house owners wanted to make an auxiliary entrance to the house from the basement. To that end there was a doorway punched through the bottom of the basement of my side entrance, and there was a concrete staircase leading to that door. My guess is that city didn't approve of this and he had to seal the doorway with concrete and he left that staircase there, burried underground, not visible from the surface. Lesage removed that for me for much less then it would cost me to remove it myself. Considering - this was a piece of concrete of around 2 tons weight. The second surprise was under my backyard entry - good builders just piled a bunch of rocks and bricks and made 2 feet of foundation on top of that pile. And built this entrance there. No surprise the water was leaking from the base of that entrance all the time. Lesage team has made a new foundation of 15 feet long around this entrance. And again, they charged bare minimum for it and did it in one day! This was an amazing job.We have a home daycare in our house and all those heaps of excavated earth absolutely did not help us. An access to the house was very limited. Here, I would remember yet another contractor, who offered a price of 20 K, and said that he will complete the job in 2 weeks. 2 weeks of that?Lesage Excavations team was a bunch of hard-hitting professionals who did an outstanding job in shortest possible period of time, in a very tight setting. These guys never stopped. They did the job for way less then it would cost me to do it myself. And they saved me a whole world of frustration. And they left a clean place behind.They don't put blueskin or that PVC membrane on top of their two layers of elastomer. But you should see those two layers - that really is enough!And they put foam boards on top of that coating. I've spent around 3 hours reparing small gapes between foundation and footing, once they pressure washed it - and this is just what I wanted! I'd rather do it myself then pay an extra $1000-1500 for this. It doesn't take a degree in civil engineering!

I got about 5 quotes when it was time to install my French drain. Lesage had the most modern techniques and the best warranty. Still pretty expensive but worth the extra money for the 20year warranty compaired to the 10 year with some of the cheaper guys. Joe and Antoine were very professional, punctual and knowledgeable. It's comforting to know that when you are spending a lot of money on a big job that it is being properly .Merci Lesage Excavation

J’ai fait une soumission pour un drain français . Ce n’était pas un travail facile , vu la profondeur des fondations et l’emplacement (serré) . Ça prenait une compagnie qui a de l’expérience et l’équipements nécessaire. Je pensais vraiment que Lesage allait se démarquer et obtenir le contrat. La soumission était très bien détaillée. Je sais que le travail allait être sur la coche avec eux . Mais le problème c’est le prix . C’était de loin la soumission la plus gonflée par rapport aux autres soumissionnaires. On ne parle pas de 2k ou 3k de différence , mais plus autour de 10k !!!J’ai fait les travaux avec un autre entrepreneur(certifié CAA Québec) et je suis très satisfait du résultat et surtout de l’économie que j’ai fait . Malheureusement, je recommande les clients de faire d’autres soumissions ailleurs car ils gonflent trop leurs estimations !

10 ans de travail bien fait…Très mauvaise expérience avec cette compagnie qui nous avait donné une bonne impression initialement avec les avis positifs sur GOOGLE et suite à la soumission. Communication entre les coordonnateurs des travaux et les clients; Médiocre. Précisons qu’à l’échéance des travaux, nous ne savons tjrs pas qui est responsable des travaux et avec qui communiquer soit Patrick Lesage ou Marc-André Caron. Non-respect du contrat; On nous dit qu’ils poseront des margelles (inscrit dans le contrat et inclut dans le prix total) et finalement ils indiquent que ce n’est pas nécessaire. On nous explique qu’il n’y a aucun frais afférent aux margelles et qu’ils l’écrivent dans tous les contrats. Idem pour les descentes de gouttières raccordées au drain qui finalement ne peuvent être posées compte tenu que cela contrevient au code du bâtiment. Plusieurs irrégularités et bris sur notre propriété; bris d’ornement de fenêtre, plusieurs pierres de notre entrée arrachées ou brisées, gazon du voisin arraché, plancher de notre sous-sol tâché de boue, poussière importante dans la maison et le garage ( porte de garage restée ouverte tout le long des travaux). Ajoutons également une pompe rouillée qu’ils ont tenté de nous faire passer prétextant qu’elle était neuve. Nous avons contacté Marc-André Caron pour l’informer de nos insatisfactions, celui-ci ne s’est jamais déplacé. Nous avons dû parler au travailleur sur le chantier qui avait été appelé pour dire que nous «n’étions pas satisfait de son travail»; terre non-tapée et inégale de façon grossière, trous béants en arrière du terrain, styromousse rose qui dépassait du sol, briques et bloc de ciment dans la terre. Celui-ci a corrigé la situation après NOTRE intervention. Le travailleur nous a d’ailleur confié qu’il ne faisait pas de « résidentiel » habituellement. Par ailleurs, nous pouvons comprendre que l’esthétique n’est pas leur priorité mais il a bien une limite; les deux drains ont été installés devant la façade de la maison. M Caron nous a répondu que nous n’avions juste à les couper. Suite à nos plaintes; on nous offre de réparer l’ornement arrière de notre fenêtre et une compensation de 10$ par roches manquantes de notre entrée alors que celle-ci est complètement à refaire. Encore mieux, on nous propose de venir remettre des roches «semblables». Selon lui, pas question de rembourser 1000 $ pour notre entrée d’autant plus qu’elle était à refaire. Comme tout le reste, notre maison ne valait rien à leurs yeux et nous nous sommes sentis comme des clients qui se plaignaient pour rien. Leur réponse l’illustrera probablement. Rien n’a été offert pour tous les inconvénients occasionnés. Ce n’est que le remboursement du solde qui leur importe. Travaux vite faits et bâclés. Nous avions infiltrations d’eau au sousol causées par le drain français. Nous avons contacter trois compagnies. Deux des compagnies sans analyser la situations nous ont offert une seul solution la plus destructives, le plus dispendieuse et moins efficace. Seulement Lesage Excavation a fait inspecter le drains français, trouvé que le drain est en bon état mais bloqué dans un endroit et ils nous ont proposer des solutions différentes pour nous à choisir. Et cela a fait énorme différence.Les gens qui ont travaillé sont très bons travailleurs, compétents. Le propriétaire est le manager par excellence qui dirige des équipes des employés d’un manière très efficace et productive.Nous voulons exprimer notre gratitude for Lesage Excavations, la compagnie qui nos a sauvé beaucoup d’ennuis et de l’argent et qui a réglé notre problème .
