Thrifty Car Rental - Toronto Pearson International Airport

Customer service? What customer service? Horrible service. Went to get car with family at Terminal 3 night, girl could barely speak English and were talking in their Indian language with one another with 3 people waiting in line, how professional. Gave customer in front free upgrade into SUV instead of wait, guess what? That customer was speaking with them in their language and when I asked if I can have something a little bigger girl in glasses told me that’s all we have. All while there were other models of the same size I booked in parking lot and she was extremely rude as if she makes calls and was telling the other girl in their language not to give me another car (I think) unless there’s a problem with car. Seems like they only give Indian decent good cars and treats others like garbage. Extremely horrendous and brutal. At return the person was nice and felt like I was actually understanding them speak English. Even they seemed fed up with how the place was running and told me he had no comments on how the place was being run and it wasn’t like this before new GM. No point in complaining on return because they were all friends with eachother inside. Very sneaky with sales as they tried selling insurance and told me not to fill up gas when I asked why they said it’s included and tried putting gas charge on my contract. READ CONTRACT BEFORE YOU SIGN! Even better just go to their competitor which is right beside them.

We pre-booked a full sized sedan car 2days before arriving Toronto. We requested for a Ford Fusion as per stated on their website however upon arriving, Thrifty staff did not have the car available and made us wait for a Toyota Camry for 45mins. Later on I think the staff felt bad for us and let choose a higher category cars which were available at site because the Camry was not ready and available. However we chose Chevrolet Malibu which was ready to drive off and the staff gave us free ½tank of fuel as complimentary. The car was brand new, clean and a good car to drive. Love the car and returning the car was really fast. Thank you Thrifty and surely we'll use you guys again in Toronto.

Was kinda worried considering certain comments here but my experience was great! Rented a car for a week, getting the paperwork done was quick, no push for additional insurance, car was brand new and clean. The drop off process was very smooth too, a person checked everything and I received the invoice immediately (charged $0)

Made a reservation a couple of months before we arrived.Received 3 emails from Thrifty saying the reservation was not complete even though when booking online it confirmed completion.Phoned Thrifty and they said to ignore all emails and it was an issue on their end. All the people I spoke to said that they could see my reservation and everything was good.Landed in Toronto and of course my reservation was not good and was told that when reserving and paying online you are actually using a different company.Talked to manager and it was useless.Horrible experience and would never try again.

I recently rented a car from Thrifty Car Rental at Toronto Pearson International Airport, and unfortunately, I can only give them two stars. While the car itself was fine, I was disappointed with the additional fees and charges that I encountered.Firstly, I was disappointed to find out that the rental insurance was a whopping $39 for just one day. I understand that insurance is important, but I think Thrifty should offer more affordable options.Secondly, I was charged extra tax because I booked my car online. This felt like a sneaky way to make some extra money, and I was not happy about it.Overall, my experience with Thrifty Car Rental was underwhelming, and I would caution others to carefully read the terms and conditions before renting from them.

A lot of the reviews are accurate! I went to pick up my car and they said they had no cars available despite everyone having reservation. They said it was going to be a 2 hour waitIt seems like the reviews here pushed the people at the counter to give more realistic times but Thrifty did not do anything to actually address the problem!Huge waste of time and money for me because I came from Downtown Toronto to pick up the car but, most importantly, terrible first impression of Toronto for people new to the country! There were atleast 30-40 people who were told to just wait while they waited for cars to be returned.After talking to customer service, it’s clear they do not care if the customers time is wasted. They say this happens sometimes but this has never happened to me with other companies such as Budget. Don’t book with thrifty, pay the extra $5-$10, the hassle and lack of customer service is not worth the “discount”

Worst car rental experience I have ever had, period. I showed up 15 early because I know these discount companies are never on time. I was told it would be an extra 20 minute wait. It ended up being 45. I ordered a minivan with a ski rack.When I was told the vehicle was ready, I go out to see a Ford Explorer, an SUV not a minivan and with no ski rack. I go inside for the employee to tell me they've never had ski racks ever. The employee keeps laughing which is highly unprofessional. I ask for the manager and explain the situation but he tells me it's not his problem. I said your company promised to provide a minivan and ski rack, I have 6 ppl and 3 pairs of skis. I pull up the receipt but he's uninterested, he goes back into his room after commenting how I should go back to Vancouver to ski as I was wearing a Whistler hat.At this point I am very upset but what really made me mad was the employee at the counter told the next customer they had a minivan available to rent. I am livid at this point as the other employee keeps smirking and laughing. I had to walk out. Yelling in an airport doesn't do anyone any good. Ended having to cram everyone inside with the skis for 5 hours and spent roughly an extra $80 on gasoline due to the poor fuel efficiency of the Ford and no refund for the ski rack.

Getting the rental car is a relatively straight forward process. But they didn't tell me they have precharged my credit card for a full tank and told me fill up rate is $1.41. so when I returned the vehicle with quarter tank left, they said they'll still charge for a full tank fill up. Thrifty definitely pulled a fast one otherwise I would have filled up for cheaper and saved.Car was recieved quite dirty, window wouldn't work and it kept pulling one way.

The worst car rental experience I've had in years, hands down. Don't get me wrong, the car itself was fine to drive and very clean - the only reason this location gets two stars. However, every step of the service" provided
