Kent Building Supplies

This is one of the largest building supply chain and a building material supermarket in Nova Scotia. The store in Amherst has almost everything a builder or a contractor needs. The staff is very much kind and helpful if they are available. However I found they have a big issue of scarcity of the staff. The number of people working there can't manage the workload and the customers has to waste their time. Sometimes you may be waiting more than 30 minutes at the contractors desk oh until someone come to help you before you buying your building materials. You would notice this especially on weekends. Because of this situation most of the customers moves to the nearby Home Hardware stores where they price matching and offering a better service. I wonder why the management can't address this issue to improve the service.?

Best by far, had them do a complete kitchen makeover. Worth every penny, best contractors to deal with.

Inventory is not accurate....hard to get help at times....reno'ing a house and often had to go to Home Hardware to get what I needed.

Bought a new Troy built lawn tractor not eaven an hour on it and it fell apart went to the store promised they would have the manager Call me Monday no call so i called him said it would be covered under warranty and he would pick it up got a call from a rude associate saying she was picking it up and i would have to pay for the repairs not happening got a refund and went elsewhere and got free delivery and a 3 year parts and labor warranty

The staff is always friendly and helpful, and are easy to find around the store if you ever need a hand finding something.

They are a good store. I am familiar with their products now so I get whatever I need.

Not a great experience.I ordered and paid for a load of wood for a weekend project at 11:30 am on Sat ... I was told I would receive an email letting me know when it was ready for pick up. I was told it would be 1-2 hours and not to come early.This store closes at 5 pm and is closed on Sunday.Needless to say... 4pm rolls around... ive still not heard from them.I start to worry because this is a pressing repair due to a recent hurricane.At 4:30 I decided to take a ride over. The order was still sitting at the front counter. They then told me there wasn't enough time for them to fill it. I was a bit annoyed and asked for a refund. I was told that I would have to apply for one.Are you kidding me?No apologies.. not even an excuse as to why my order was simply left.I ended up going to the lumber yard and picking up the wood myself..I'll never go back to Amherst N.S Kent. These guys clearly do not care about their customers.

I've worked at Kent in Amherst since August of 2022. I got a long with most of my co-workers. I've also gotten along with most managers there, up until Tyson became the manager. since day one of his start date it seemed like he was out to get me. I've emailed HR about a couple of incidents to say the least, but nothing has gotten done. My breaking point was when I got written up for inappropriate comments with no evidence of me saying said inappropriate comments. Once you put your two weeks in your problems with other co-workers are no longer important nor would have a simple conversation about it. I highly recommend not working here.
