Simba's Grill

I've been to this place twice and I have nothing but great things to say about Simba's grill.Both times we have ordered the Chef's dinner for two. That includes the Kuku Choma, Lamb Kebab, Beef Mishkaki, Samaki ( fish ) Bites served with salad, rice, spinach curry and Naan. Price might sound a bit of the high end, but you get a generous portion that serves 4 people. So for two people it will last for 2 days.To me the beef Mishkaki is the star of this plate, very flavorful. The Samaki bites are tender and fresh. And the Lamb Kebabs make a good change of pace between the chicken and the beef in my opinion.The service is prompt and they are always checking on you, making sure everything is right. The owner will also make rounds and make sure you have everything you need.When we requested the leftover food ( almost half it it ) for take out. They brought me the boxes and also refilled the hot sources in small containers. This was awesome as other people have pointed out ..all those dips and sauces are delicious, maybe a bit spicy but you have to try..There is a Mango one and a Red one .. if you don't see the yellow one, ask for it.There's also a coconut one and one that seems to be based on yogurt with go great with Naan.Overall a very pleasant experience and one of the best restaurants I've been to lately in terms of food quality, portions, taste and service.If like me, sometimes you are craving for protein and want to step aside from saladas, sushi or ramen. And want something on the flavourful side .This is a place to try.

Hidden gem in the neighbourhood. We ordered the cassava root fries, i really enjoyed the texture, perfect for sharing. Chai was really nice and creamy, unsweetened with sugar on the side. The spiced rice in the Biriyani had so much flavor. We got goat curry since we saw reviews raving about it and our expectations were met. We ordered some Naan, wonderful char flavor. And some Mandazi, the flavor reminded me of chinese donut but less oily. Honestly everything was sooo good we plan to come back with family! We would absolutely order everything we got again and try some new things as well. We were so happy at the end of our meal, no disappointments. Returning customers for sure!

This place is a hidden gem. You’ll feel like you are having dinner at a family members home. The food is consistent and delicious. We ordered the chef grilled platter which was of good value and gives you a good variety of fish, lamb, chicken and beef. The fried bread and pigeon peas were amazing! This is our second time here and we love speaking with the owner and chef himself, Simba. We will keep coming and encouraging our friends and family to come by for an authentic meal. Today I needed a pick-me up in the form of good hearty adventure meal. So I ended up here. If you like spices and exceptional meals this is the place. The sauces and amazing. Never had east Indian food, today was the start, can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

My recent visit to Simba’s Grill left me & my party utterly disappointed. From start to finish, the experience was marred by rude behavior from the owner, subpar service, and mediocre food that was absurdly overpriced.Upon entering the restaurant, I had high hopes for a pleasant dining experience. Unfortunately, the owner’s attitude quickly shattered any positive expectations. Their demeanor was consistently rude and dismissive, showing no regard for customer satisfaction. It’s disheartening to witness such unprofessional behavior in a hospitality establishment.Empty glasses were left unfilled for extended periods, and requests for assistance were met with indifference. It was evident that customer satisfaction was not a priority for the restaurant.Regrettably, the disappointment extended to the food. The dishes lacked creativity and were far from memorable. The taste was average at best, and the presentation was unremarkable. Moreover, the portion sizes were notably small for the exorbitant prices charged. I expected quality ingredients and flavors that would justify the high cost, but sadly, it was an unjustifiable expense.To make matters worse, the menu prices were unjustifiably inflated. It was evident that the establishment was attempting to capitalize on its location or reputation, without delivering the value or experience expected at such price points. The overall lack of quality, coupled with the exorbitant prices, left me feeling cheated and dissatisfied.In summary, my visit to Simba’s Grill was a regrettable experience. The rude owner, subpar service, mediocre food, and exorbitant prices combined to create a disappointing dining affair. I will not be dining at this establishment ever again, as there are countless other restaurants in the area that offer superior service, delectable cuisine, and better value for your money.

The lamb kebabs tasted amazing, and were so juicy and cooked to perfection! The rice was nice with the yogurt, coconut, hot sauce and tamarind sauce. Would love to come back here and try more stuff!

We tried Simba's Grill, a family run restaurant specializing in East African fusion cuisine.Busy on a Friday evening. Our waiter, one of the owners, is one of those individuals that chats/sits down with customers.- Chutneys - we were originally given a second hot sauce but the owner came by, told us it was too spicy" and took it away. Bizarre. Didn't get to taste that one but the mango chutney was fantastic (a punch in the face

Lovely experience here. All of the food items were good. Ask for the Simba special hot sauce if you want a bit of adventure for your spice tolerance, absolutely loved that house sauce but not at all recommended for the faint hearted (non spice lovers)

Superb food, best dinner I’ve ever had in vancouver. The plate menu with a bit of everything totally worth the price. They use coconut milk mix for the naan and they were delicious. Will definitely come back again.
