This is an incredible place to stay and we had so much fun exploring the gorgeous Witless Bay area (the hike to the Suspension Bridge and whale watching in Bay Bulls in particular.) it's right on the East Coast trail so it would be an amazing luxurious spot to sleep if you were on a hiking trip. We stayed in the Humpback suite and enjoyed a private hot tub (!!!) and really appreciated the well equipped kitchen, especially the coffee supplies, and we liked going for walks and making a quick breakfast here. The gardens, ducks and whole property are stunning. A couple of items: in our suite, you could hear everything upstairs: footsteps, TV, loud talkers, which was a bit annoying but we weren't here much anyhow. Also be aware the shower is low flow, hot water takes a long time which is totally normal in the country.Make sure you reserve a table at Fork down there road which was the best meal we had in NL. Wonderful spot- we will come back!

This place is so cute and lovely! We stayed in the Humpback Suite and it was very clean and had a nice private hot tub area and a beautiful view of the bay!It was a perfect romantic getaway and we will definitely be returning! Rods & Lar ❤️

At Whale House Guest House you’ll experience extremely courteous and accommodating staff like no other destination.Their hospitality is incomparable! Be it you need extra towels to advice about where to hike / sight see.The suites are clean and equipped with everything to make your own small simple meals, plus a communal BBQ if you want to roast up a bigger spread.Don’t forget to set your wake-up alarm, the sunrises are a must to experience.

The whale house is an excellent choice for someone who is looking to have a romantic night away or even a girls weekend! The rooms are beautiful and clean, with a smart tv and a google home. There is a hot tub and a hammock, and you are over looking the ocean. I can’t wait to go back!

The whale house is such a lovely treat! My husband and I had spent two nights prior camping in the rain on the east coast trail. We splurged and rented a room here which was so comfortable and a nice place to recuperate. Amanda is so kind and even brought us some of her duck eggs! Absolutely recommend.

My partner and I had a lovely time at the Humpback suite. We relaxed in the hottub and watched the stars and the full moon over the ocean. The room had little treats in it like tea, coffee and Bubbly cans, and it was stocked with a full kitchenette and supplies. The homeowner was lovely to work with and they went out of their way to bring us boardgames to play. The trails nearby the lodge are gorgeous and easily accessible. We had a yummy dinner at The Captain's Table and breakfast at the Irish Loop Coffee House. Highly recommend the whole experience. This is a beautiful part of Newfoundland.

Beautiful place on the Southern Shore! We first planned to stay at the Whale House for only one night, but had to stay for a second one! The owners are super nice and the view is perfect. A good spot near the East Coast Trail, perfect for hiking and not even two minutes from the beach. We can definitely recommend it!

Great view from the blue whale room and its hot tub. Would love to return in summer as so close the the east coast trail and there is a great common area for people to enjoy.The bathroom was not completely closed off (which some people may not enjoy).

Quite simply, the Whale House is the last intimate rental you'll ever want to book with your significant other. The best romantic getaway experience you're going to find anywhere on the Avalon, possibly the entire province. The rental itself is perfect in its privacy and simplicity, but you won't be able to stop looking at the gorgeous views, and don't get me started about the stars at night, especially from the hot tub...I can't overstate it, NOT to be missed! Sunrise right over the ocean is also pretty spectacular.The check in / check out process couldn't be simpler, and if you have any questions or need something, help is just a text or phone call away. There are trails and a bbq area and local establishments to check out, but we can never seem to leave the property once we're there.The only problem you're bound to run into is you're not going to want to leave! Last weekend was our second time there. We had such a great time the first time that I bought a night there as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend this past Christmas. Clean, cozy, and the perfect distance away from St. Johns. A perfect little environment for a cozy little getaway just outside of the city. I recommend it to everyone.
