Satinstitch Alterations & Dressmaking

I wanted to love this place, as I like supporting small, family-run businesses, but unfortunately I did not have the best experience. When I went to pick-up my garment (a costume for a show) the seamstress was still finishing the alteration. As such, I did not have time to closely inspect the dress before leaving. When I got home, I found a pin still attached to the garment, a snag in the fabric (that was not there before, this was a brand new costume) and most importantly, a ~6 unfinished section where the beading had not been reattached (see photos). The best place to get an alteration. I brought a dress in to have taken out slightly, the owner gave me advice and told me exactly how she was going to do it, which I really appreciated. The service was also very quick (4 days) and the price was very reasonable, even more so when I picked up the dress and the size fit better than I could’ve imagined. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Owners are very friendly! I had a pair of pants hemmed, a patch sewn into a pair of jeans, and a large quilt turned into a fitted sheet for an abnormal sized mattress. The work was done impeccably and prices were very reasonable. I highly recommend.

PLEASE READ PREVIOUS REVIEWS AS THEY ARE NOT REAL BASED ON THE FAKE NAMES. The owners are very nice but DO NOT get any alterations done at this place. I was really excited to find a place nearby home with great reviews to get my jeans hemmed but the results were absolutely horrible. They used cheap thread that the thread is already coming loose after one wash and the sew is not even straight. I did mention before leaving that the colour was not accurate or was it any where similar to the original thread. They did not seem like they really would do anything after. Overall, lesson learned. Don't take their kindness as good work. Nice people but they sadly do a horrible job. Pay a couple more bucks and go elsewhere. Save your clothes!

I love coming here to have my alterations done! They do a wonderful job! Last week she was able to transform a blouse I had bought from Zara with big puff sleeves into a beautiful tank top that I will be wearing all summer! She even gave me adjustable straps.They are always willing to get my clothes done quick when I come in on a Wednesday and say I need to wear it Friday .... or in some cases the same day!10/10 would recommend if you are looking for a Tailor in the Kits area :)

Lovely owners, very easy to work with and reasonably priced. I had two bridesmaid dresses done (one of which needed extensive alterations) and both came out beautifully. She was very fast and let me try the dress on again halfway through alterations to accommodate new shoes I bought for the dress.

I haven't been here for awhile but I dropped off an article yesterday. Metra and her husband are very friendly. She does excellent work and is very clear about cost and timeline. Highly recommended.

It's a little hole in the wall location, but the owners are so wonderful. I had 2 paid pants hemmed, and they were exactly as I wanted them. The price was reasonable, and u will definitely go back again when needed.

A friend referred me to this place and I was hopeful it would be good but it was quite the opposite! I brought a jacket to have the sleeves shortened, came back a day after it was supposed to be ready but it was not. They had to search to find it and asked me to come back later. I called the next day to confirm it was ready and returned to pick it up. I started to tell the woman that I was very disappointed since they had been referred to me, but she cut me off and started making all kinds of excuses about how it got lost behind some other items. No apologies or anything, and arguing with me! Complete lack of care for customer's experience and not taking any responsibility for their lack of organization or care for customers garments. She said I could think what I wanted, that it didn't matter! Wow! Just Wow! Do not bring your precious clothing to this place. I wish I had paid more attention to the other reviews of people who shared their bad experiences!

This place is fantastic. The owners are a cute husband and wife that take great care of their customers. Very professional well done alterations and a fair price. What more do you need?
