Ivone is a fantastic councilor! She's not afraid to tell it like it is instead of like other counselors I have seen who have only said repetitively and how do you feel about that?" . So refreshing to be counseled by somebody who truly cares and wants to help."

The secretary is articulate and polite and is the Husband of the Counsellor there. While he is polite and articulate, his secretary skills are seriously lacking!I contacted the Door of Hope around July/August of 2021. I Handed them a doctors referral, the secretary recieved it but the spelling of counselling was done with one L and so the secretary chose not to send it. The secretary did not however, follow up and contact me to tell me they haven't sent it or to tell me to get it fixed, so a month and a half later I call to see how the referral process is going and the secretary tells me they never sent the referral to the Government because counselling was spelled wrong in the referral.... then why did they not follow up and contact me to tell me, so we could fix this?!So I call my doctors office and tell them the mistake and if they could fix it..... I go over it on the phone with them and they send out the referral to this counselling bussiness once again. The doctors office doesn't understand why the Door of Hope Wouldn't just send in the referal as the spelling of counselling wouldn't effect the basics of processing a referal. The counselling service receives the 2nd referral and notices that once again the spelling for counselling is spelled wrong and chooses not to send it out (american one L instead of brittish 2 L's.... is this really a big thing that will determine whether my referral gets accepted or not)?!Again, instead of the secretary from the Door of Hope calling me and letting me know it is once again spelled incorrectly..... they just don't follow up and call me. they don't send out my referal to the Government! So I again am assuming it takes some time for the Government to receive and process referrals so I wait again about a month and a half and call back. Only to find out the secretary at the Door of Hope had received my referral, noticed the spelling was wrong.... and once again he decided to not send the referral through and again no follow up to let me know! Grrrr...So I calll my doctors office (they think it is silly that the counselling service is not putting a referral through because of the spelling of counselling)! Counseling or counselling, I think the Government gets it.... but whatever..... 7 months later I just made my 4/5th call to the counselling service to see if they have heard back from the Government.... this is getting ridiculous! Super frustrated and disappointed by this whole fiasco...... Blah! The secretary/husband was talking politely and sweetly through this whole fiasco, and sounds great, but is really lacking in anything other as far as secretarial work goes. I'm 48 and have been to all kinds of different counsellors, psychologists and pyschiatrists since I was in my teens and in those 34 years, this by far has been the worst experience I have ever had with trying to get the counselling I need! I suggest you try elsewhere to save yourself the trouble and just go get counselling somewhere where the secretary knows how to file and process properly and knows how to do follow up, process thing properly and take care of their clients properly and professionally!

I am so glad I found this counselling. It is awesome! I believe everyone needs to take care of his/her mental health!! I have been becoming stronger with all the amazing help Ivone gave to me. Her empathy totally washed a lot of my shame" away. I have been learned and practiced with the tools she provided for me: they "free" my life and bring new Hope to my heart."
