I have been a member at Hostyle for almost the last year, in this time I have taken the opportunity to get acquainted with almost everything they offer. The one thing lacking at this gym is the intimidation factor found at most gyms. The staff here take a personal interest in you and your development and are always ready with a suggestion or word of encouragement. They treat everyone who comes into the gym with a level of respect generally reserved for close friends. I can not say enough good about the coaches at Hostyle, don't be fooled these are real people who understand the ups and downs of fitness. The 1 biggest thing I can say about my friends at Hostyle is that they refuse to give up on anyone with any skill set from beginners to competitive lifters. Absolutely love this place!!!!

At first I was unaware of the quality of the equipment from Iron Hos as I had not purchased from a Canadian strength equipment company. After my first purchase, it is needless to say, any reservations were quickly cast out. Since the first purchase or wrist wraps, I have been so impressed I have gone on and picked up knee/elbow sleeves, variances of wrist wraps, and a boat load of cool apparel. The quality is exceptional, and better than some inzer and metal powerlifting wraps.

This gym has a motivational and disciplined atmosphere. Curd is great to work with, always joking but helping you reach your goals! If you REALLY want to become a better you, this is THE place!

I’ve never left a review before and I take it seriously. I wouldn’t give a bad review unless I felt it was warranted. If I could give the staff at this place a rating separately I would give a 4 or 5 for being pleasant and courteous.The gym itself however is in disrepair. The ceiling is constantly leaking. On the power lifting side, for the entirety of my 5ish months of working out there, there was some kind of white mold or salt residue creating literal stalagmites (stalactites?) hanging from the ceiling. It is quite dingy.When signing a contract here please read the fine print. Unlike most gyms, which allow you to pay a fee or a percentage of the remaining balance on your contract to cancel, this gym does not allow you to cancel for any reason. If your financial situation happens to change during the duration of your contract, consider yourself out of luck.The owner (Curd Hos) is very curt and completely ignores emails from clients that he does not feel inclined to answering. I have not seen any compassion or any attempt at good customer service from him. I’m very disappointed by the level of service I have received from the owner. In the end, I must continue to pay for a gym membership that I am unable to use because I don’t feel comfortable in the environment.

The clanging of plates, the smell of rubber mats, the rattling of the squat rack...I've been gone far too long. And it's all coming back to me. #IronHosGym...struggle-perservere-succeed-inspire. Let's go to work.

Hands down best gym I have ever been to. It is small and usually quiet. You can always use the weights and there will always be a machine available. Once you get to know the people who attend you know when everyone will be there. Other gym members are always willing to teach and to help out if you show interest. Curd, the owner is always super helpful if he can be (when he's not busy doing paperwork) and even when he can't help he offers words of encouragement.I've never been anywhere where the atmosphere feels like a family. There is always someone you can call on.

***FRAUD*** placed an order for t-shirts (3rd order I have placed) on Sept 8/22. They didn’t come, so I reached out via email. I was given a few reasons why… the last email message i received on Oct 23 was “on it”. My next 3 emails were unanswered. On the last email I sent, I asked for a response! I asked for my money to be credited to my card! I gave 3 business days for this to happen. Here we are on Nov 18. No t-shirts or credit. I have gone to the VISA fraud department and launched a claim!So much for buying Canadian and supporting small business.

I have been a member of Hostyle for almost 2 years. Curd and his team are professional, motivated and not only talk the talk they walk the walk. Everyone at the gym is friendly, welcoming, and encouraging. I have been able to accomplish fitness goals I never thought possible. I am in stronger, leaner and as someone in their mid 50's I am in better shape than I was 20 years ago. That's thanks to the professional training at Hostyle. Thanks Curd and Hostyle for helping me accomplish this.

This is the best gym I've ever trained at.! If you are serious about training and want to make super gains like I have made throughout the 4 years I've been there that is the place people should go! It's not a social club or a internet cafe like most of the commercial gyms! This is the real deal! I would recommend this gym to all my friends and even my enemies that's how much I love it!! The staff is a 1 and the owner is a top-notch guy!

This is THE best gym in Ottawa, friendly staff and members and excellent equipment. If youre looking for a gym with a helpful and positive environment, Hostyle is your place!
