We had a lovely anniversary supper here. We ordered the 16 ounce NY strip and the Tre Carne pizza. Amazing. The wood fired grill really sets this place apart, you could taste the real wood smoke and heat in every bite. I’ve never been so blown away by roasted vegetables, they were so flavourful and cooked to perfection. The service was attentive but not at all overbearing. An excellent dining experience.

Heard about Alena from a relative on facebook. It's a great neighbourhood restaurant in Charleswood. Food was great, service was excellent and atmosphere was good as well. We were there on a Sunday afternoon @ 4. We shared a starter, stuffed olives; we each had a house salad; we each had a pasta dish, Chicken + Mushroom Pappardelle and B.T.B. Rigatoni and topped off the evening with a slice of the brunt cheesecake. We will be back to try the wood-fired pizza!

We went with a group of friends for New Year’s Eve. We had the mussels, and the fresh pasta with wild boar. Everything was delicious. My wife had the salmon with lobster. She also enjoyed her dinner. We will have to go back again.

If your looking for a nice place to go for really great dinner then Alena's is a good choice. Atmosphere very relaxing and welcoming. Service at table very precise and attentive. Greg our server did a tremendous job of keeping track of our progress but never pushing. He explained everything about the restaurant and the menu and had some great recommendations.We started out with the garlic butter knots, marinated olives, meatballs and tomato and mozzarella salad. The bread hear is heavenly, full of flavor and light as a cloud.We had Spun Chicken pizza, Pappardelle Chinghiale (tuscan-style slow braised wild boar) and the special which was roast Atlantic salmon with roasted vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection and full of rich flavors. Yes if you have room there is a very nice selection to finish off a perfect meal.We'll definitely be back.My compliments to Chef Dacquisto and staff for a wonderful dining experience.

Great little spot.We ordered a variety of appetizers, mussels, calamari, olives. The calamari was dry unfortunately.Pizzas looked delicious and the pasta with chicken and mushrooms was very good.Was a busy night, had a long wait for drinks.Overall, was a good experience.

Happy to discover this new place for our family. Been there a couple times so far and will definitely visit again Wonderful atmosphere. Service is great as well.My personal favourites on the menu are Garlic knots, wild boar, the cheesecake and chicken mushroom paradelle. I personally hate olives, but my family went on and on about how great the ones that Alena served that night.

I had the veal chop.. Rose has mussels..and slow simmered meat balls..The portions are plentiful..the mussels were the biggest I've ever seen..I also did not expect such a large veal chop..like a tomahawk steak..Done to perfection with incredibly tasty sides..If u haven't been here in the evening,u are missing a best kept secret in Winnipeg..The place was full..

I was curious about this place because a friend ordered pizza and their marinated olives regularly for delivery.On a whim, we figured we would give the restaurant itself a shot. We were fairly late in the evening, and the place was busy. If you go during normal hours I strongly recommend a reservation. It's worth visiting. They managed to seat us after a short wait.Skipping to the food: it was delicious. We tried a few things, including the famous (to me at least since I heard about them all of the time) marinated olives. So these olives - they are amazing. We had a pasta: top marks. We also had the special that night, which was octopus, and it was so good.

The front host was invisible for 20 minutes while we waited at the front entrance. They then let in 4 people behind us, I heard them say they were regulars, then 10 minutes later we were seated in the lounge. Talk about no atmosphere!! The mussels were undercooked with hardly any sauce. The pizza was awesome. Our server was doubling as a bartender but was fabulous. Communication at the front was almost non-existent. The main restaurant had a much better feel to it.
