Westside Recreation Centre

This place is okay but there are some things bad about it.#1. Some of the change rooms are not clean.#2. It takes a while to wait for the family change rooms.#3. There are literally CAMERAS in the change rooms. WHY?!#4. The life guards and overall staff. Some of them are nice but some are short tempered and yell and rant.#5. You have to put your backpacks in a locker (even though it isn’t mandatory)#6. The old gym equipment.#7. They are too lazy to buy new craft materials for camps like the tarps that they use are ripped and old.#8. Their camera when you take a picture for the membership card.#9. Some of the instructors fail you and they don’t correct you on your mistakes.Overall, the place is okay and maybe if they fix these things than maybe it would deserve more stars.

I wouldn’t recommend this gym at all since they are very racist. Yesterday they kicked out a beautiful fit black lady just because they feel threat that all the members like her and admire her beautiful physique. What they did to this lady was very unfair and disrespectful. Please don’t get a membership through that gym is toxic.

I like the recreational pool here better. Less crowd, variety of pool classes and activities, great for families especially for babies. They also have an indoor skating with fireplaces.

What looked like a newly hired life guard was very unprofessional towards my daughter and I yesturday. My almost 7 year old daughter gets very cold in the pools here and asked me to go in the hot tub with her. He came up to us and asked how old she was. When I answered, he proceeded to ask “how much six and a half?”, so I politely told him her birthday. He then asked, “can you read the board over there?…sorry..” It was very demeaning for a teenager to speak to a fully grown women and mother in this manner, lacking respect. Please teach your staff to be kind and courteous to all members who graciously pay to come here.

My friend recently got kicked out of this gym because they thought that she was soliciting people for personal training sessions. Which was completely untrue. Westside just cancelled her membership without even having a discussion with her.I thought that the gym was supposed to be a place where you can feel safe, inclusive and to relieve stress but instead they made her feel the opposite.It’s really sad to hear that she felt like she was bullied and they made her feel very unwelcome.

The facility is decent, but it’s 40 degrees in here all the time. Feel like I’m working out in a sauna. Please turn on the AC..

I was a little hesitant in getting a membership as it is a fairly busy rec center, but I decided to bite the bullet and get one. The gym is clean, there is a bunch of equipment, the walk/run track is awesome as well. I very rarely need to wait to use something. The staff are so nice, I can always rely on them for help.

My family & I had a good time at this pool. We loved the family change room, It was so helpful for us to be able to change together. The private stalls & control of the shower temperature was fantastic! The pool area was nice. Has a baby pool with lots of toys to play with. The tot area wasn’t working while we were there which sucked because we have a toddler. The wave pool was kind of cold & the waves weren’t very good, You could barely tell there was waves. The lazy River was the biggest hit for us, The water was warmer & it was just so much fun going round & round. There was a lot of careless teenagers in the pools & they were playing pretty rough, Almost hit multiple younger children & the staff didn’t care, I guess they don’t have to when you have to sign a waiver to go swimming. It’s also quite expensive compared to other leisure centres, 37$ for 2 adults & a 2 yr old. All in all, 3 stars for us, Will probably go again just for the lazy River & how much our toddler enjoyed it.

This centre is a TOP NOTCH facility with staff that are friendly and knowledgeable. Everything here is always very clean and in good repair.The pool has a fun Lazy River and a massive Hot Tub so you can always go inside.There are many classes that run year round here that range from dancing, to floor hockey and camps too. They are all well-run and professional.In the Winter there is a really fun indoor skating area that was designed to look like a pond with a stream.With plenty of parking and a short walk to the CTrain station it is easy for everyone to come and enjoy.

It’s a good fitness facility, except for it always being overcrowded most of the time, the staff at the front desk are very nice. The only time I had a bad experience at this place was when I was in the gym, I asked a gentleman how much longer was he going to be on a machine, and he confronted me and said to me, there’s so many machines, how come u don’t use those machines. Why do u have to bother me? I told the front desk staff and I’m not sure they did anything. Also, there was one time when a fitness employee, her name was Camille rolled her eyes at me which I found was a bit rude. I don’t go to this place anymore. There’s better choices out there.
