Richmond Public Works Yard hosts an open house every year (usually around mid May) which is a free event. There's a lot of exhibits and fun things for kids and families to do. Lots of free things are given away, including free self serve dirt (for people that want to use it for their garden?). Food trucks set up to create a food court atmosphere. Covered eating area with picnic tables are set up beside a stage where live band, dancers and other performers entertain. Lots of people come and parking can be difficult to find. This year it was from 11am to 3pm.

Ben Dias contacted me to look at my truck that I have for sale. My truck was listed for $28,000.00.Ben asked me what my bottom line was and I told him $27,500.00. Then Ben asked that I have the truck inspected at BC Diesel in Surrey, BC even though I live in Chilliwack? Ben said that his brother owned the shop. I told Ben that I would drive my truck there. On the day of the inspection, the snow was falling and the roads were very treacherous. There were over a half dozen collisions and the traffic was at a crawl. It took me about 2 hours to get there. Then I waited for 90 minutes while the mechanic inspected the truck. It took me another 2 hours to get home. It cost me $35.00 for gas. I am retired and on a fixed income.Ben contacted me and asked me what my bottom line was? I reminded Ben that I told him that my bottom line was $27,500.00.Ben tried to beat me down and said $26,500.00 and to go half on the deficiencies that were on the inspection.I told Ben that I was already losing $4,000.00 at $27,000.00 and I only drove the truck for 700 kms. And owned it for 9 months. I had spent almost $2,000.00 on repairs including spark plugs and a fuel injector.I told Ben that I would talk to my wife. I called Ben back and told him that my wife said $27,000.00.Ben tried to shame me and said It's too bad you will lose out on a sale for $500.00!"It would have been $1
