National Car Rental

I had the best experience at National Car (Mel's U Drive). My vehicle was hit by someone, so going through insurance for my rental. Tried Enterprise first as directed by my insurance and they had limited rentals and wouldn't hold one until I got there, told me it was a first come first serve and they couldn't guarantee a vehicle would be there when I got there. Called National and not only did they have a vehicle in the size I was looking for, but they also put my name on it and told me it would be there for me! Got there the next day, they had it all ready. Customer service was excellent! I asked about extra coverages i.e. glass, etc. and was told my insurance covered it, but also he was so knowledgeable he knew my credit card had rental coverage!! I didn't know this and asked how he knew and he said just from experience. When I went to look he was 1000% correct! One of the best experiences I have ever had with a rental agency!

Crooks, STAY AWAY!!They called me 2 hours before the pickup time to let me know the estimated total price" increased from $89.00 to over $600.00.The customer service was as useless as usual you can find in Canada. The supervisor

First of all, the customer service rep was very rude and condescending when talking to me. Second, my flight got cancelled and I needed a vehicle to drive back to Calgary to spend Christmas with my family. The rep denied this request in a very rude manner even after I explained my situation. Awful customer service. Never renting from National ever again.

Not overly impressed. Nothing wrong with the rental car but was a bit annoyed during drop off. Stood around while the few staff members were talking close to ten minutes before being helped. I stated I wanted to pay cash then got annoyed when they wanted me to go outside and check km on the car when I’m paying for a service and there was no one else in there that was holding them up with other things. Ended up walking out and I guess just have my card charged? Definitely recommend enterprise. They have an amazing manager with excellent customer service who goes above and beyond!

Great customer service! We booked a compact to pick up and there was an issue finding keys. Instead of having us wait around, they upgraded us to the next available vehicle and got us on our way!

8 times out of 10, National has risen above its competitors. Unfortunately this time, it results in a negative review. The one time I misplaced my receipt for a fuel top up, the CSA called me out on it. When I encouraged her to check the mileage and verify it was full, she declined and told me she would charge me a $10 refueling fee. I contested it and stated that I had never been asked before let alone challenged on it as an Emerald Member. I advised the inexperienced agent that if she charged me a bogus fee, I would use their competition the next time I was in the Grand Prairie, Alberta market. She did not care. I sent a follow up email asking for clarification and justification of the $10, and I received no response. I followed up a second time and again no response. Terrible service, and not what I expect from a national partner! Shame! Looks like its Budget next time in Grand Prairie!

Best service! I book online the night before to pick up the next morning.. car was ready and clean the next morning with fuel ready to go.. I drove 1500 km/3days. and they charge exactly the amount I thought.. everyone has diff experience but definitely renting again here.. thanks!!

Pretty sad when you make reservations with National Car Rental two months prior and you show up the day of and they say they can't honor that reservation and leave you stranded. Even with an email confirmation the previous day. You look out in the parking lot and its full of cars!! Unacceptable and uncalled for. Customer service did not help whatsoever and claimed they couldnt do anything since there wasnt a manager in until Monday.

Rented a car from the Fort Nelson location April 22. Returned the car April 25th at the Prince George location. 2 days later was emailed a copy of the invoice with a $1000 drop fee added. Neither the rental location or drop location indicated a possible drop fee. Nor was there mention of a drop fee on the rental contract. The rental location is not answering phone calls or emails. National car rental head office is washing their hands of this issue due to Fort Nelson being a privately owned location. Recommend staying away from National Car rental all together. Take the bus. Was contacted by rental outlet threw Google maps indicating that they would look into the charges and that's where communication ended. As mentioned, think twice about renting from National Car rental/ Mel's U Drive. Now 3 weeks later the rental agency finally returned a call to my wife. They're still unwilling to make this situation correct. Contacted National Car Rental head office with my rental agreement number which they indicated was from 2003 not April 22,2019. Head office also mentioned that they don't have an outlet in Fort Nelson. Mel's U-Drive in Fort Nelson is posing as a National Car rental facility.

Unless you feel like being completely ripped off dont EVER rent a car from National Car Rental in Grande Prairie!!! Not only are their daily rates DOUBLE than what we paid at Enterprise, they charged us $110 for a partial day rental which included a refueling charge of $17.22 for driving the vehicle a few blocks to our home and straight back to their office to return it!! They also didn't put the charge through the insurance company like they were supposed to, but they charged to our credit card without notifying us. WORST CAR RENTAL PLACE EVER!! JUST LIKE IN THE W5 REPORTS ON TV. Dont every rent from National Car Rental unless you want to be completely ripped off. We ended up getting the same vehlcle from Enterprise for HALF THE COST!
