Avis Car Rental

Arriving in just before closing after a flight delay, we were pleased to see an agent available to help us process our reservation.Two days into our rental period, we have come to realise that we were charged an additional $200 more than our booked rate.Upon investigating via email with customer service, we were informed that the car we were given was not the original rental we had booked, but rather an upgraded vehicle for which we were billed an additional charge of $200.The agent we spoke with at the counter did not offer an upgrade, nor did we request one. We were simply told that our vehicle would be a Toyota 4Runner, with no mention of additional charges.To be clear: the fee was not even spelled out on the receipt, where it is simply itemized as additional charges".A troubling lack of scruples from Avis."

Mystery" was F150 pickup!"

On Saturday August 13, we had a problem making our connection in Toronto due to bad weather. We were able to book the last flight into Deer Lake, which would arrive no earlier than 1:30 in the morning.I called and spoke to Karen to let her know. She volunteered to wait for our arrival, which she did. Because of the change of flights we had to track down our luggage when it didn't show up on the carousel. She waited patiently until we were squared away and went with us to inspect the car before we drove to the hotel.This was the most outstanding example of service I have encountered in a very long time. Being able pick up our rental that evening made such a positive impact on our week in Newfoundland. We were able to get back on schedule the next morning.

They make the paying customer park the rental in specific spots and get all the mileage info for them. Not sure what they’re getting paid for. I’ve never experienced that at any other car rental location.

Avis saved the day when Enterprise s*** the bed. After showing up at the airport and finding out that my reservation meant nothing to Enterprise, the ladies at the Avis desk were helpful and got me into a beautiful rental in no time. Really would have been stuck if it wasn't for Avis.No hassle drop off. Thank you!I would give 5 stars but the price was double what my original reservation with the other place would have been.

After calling 3 times and calling to confirm the day before arriving they refused me a rental I was paying for outright and still wanted to charge to my account. I gave them authorization to charge a deposit of $300 but they still wouldn’t do it without without another $500
