Sawyer Sewing Centre

To be honest, I wish there was somewhere else to buy sewing machines in town. I don't always feel welcome or comfortable when shopping in Sawyer's. The customer service is lacking in the kindness and compassion area. I literally left the store in tears the last time I was there and I definitely don't think I'll be going back. I brought my machine in hoping to get a little tutorial on it, something I was told several times during purchase would be provided any time I liked. However I was greeted with annoyance and told machine would be in the shop for 3 weeks and cost $99 to have fixed" however I brought it elsewhere and was taught to adjust it in less than two minutes and my machine worked beautifully again."

I have dealt with Sawyers for more years than I can remember when they were at Fort St and have bought numerous machine from them over the years. They carry top notch machines, but what is the MOST important to me is the service. Never have had a bad experience with all my questions, with all my machines and the staff always goes beyond the required to assure satisfaction!

Brought my little Kenmore in for an issue I wasn't able to solve at home. Was treated very kindly by staff who helped solve the minor issue on the spot and gave great wisdom along the way. Overall, best first experience here and I will be recommending this place and returning for all my sewing needs from now on!

I researched and saved for my new machine for two years. I bought the brother innovis essence vm5200 from Sawyers last week. After 1 wk it died, no power. I took it back and 5 minutes later they gave me a brand new machine. This is the best outcome I had hoped for . I'm a very happy customer. Now back to my sewing.

The staff here are fantastic. My older sewing machine was locking up on me repeatedly a few weeks ago when I had a million things to do, so my husband took it in to drop it off for service (which I was told over the phone would be about 10 days). Instead, the staff member he spoke to had a look at the machine and was able to fix it on the spot so I could have it back that afternoon. Apparently the problem was smaller than I thought, but I'm so glad to have had a pro look at it. I'm super grateful and very impressed!

I went into Sawyers today to buy needles for my machine. I don’t remember the name of the woman who helped me but she answered many questions and took the time to go over threading concerns I have with my serger. She let me video the threading and reviewed Other features of my machine. It was so helpful and now I have more confidence and knowledge. Thank you

Ordered a Janome Magnolia machine on a Wednesday night and it arrived Friday morning. This is beyond incredible service!!! Thank you Sawyer Sewing. Can't wait to visit in person.

Sawyers is the best store in Canada to purchase a machine and/or to take classes. I bought my first sewing machine from them about 40 years ago when they were on Fort Street; they were fabulous then as they are now. Incredibly knowledgeable and not in the least bit pushy. They give the best advice and really care about their customers. I have now purchased 5 machines over the years and am happy every time.

Poor advice: About 10 years ago I was looking for a Sailrite machine and went to Sawyers looking for one. They didn’t have them but told me that a Baracuda Reliable was equivalent quality, so that’s what I bought. It needed tuneups more frequently than my other machines and always sounded klunky. When I told them that, they said that’s what it was supposed to sound like. Due to normal operation, a piece of the interior machinery drilled itself through the case. I’ve been frustrated with it since the day I first used it. I finally bought a Sailrite and they are absolutely NOT equivalent quality. I’m very disappointed in the advice they gave. On another occasion I brought my old but well loved domestic machine in and they told me a part was broken and couldn’t be replaced - that the machine was finished. I took the machine elsewhere and they tuned it better than Sawyer ever had AND they replaced the part. I won’t be back unless there are no other options.
