Here is where locomotives roared overhead and cars drove through this 1913 tunnel. The trains. I longer run this route and the old one lane tunnel was unearthed and preserved.Transportation history!

There is a sign explaining the history of the tunnel. Lots of graffiti. Right next to the TransCanada trail and Hwy.

The Tunnel of Flags
It's just an old Highway tunnel, But it captivates me everytime. The history, the fact that this has stood the test of time is amazing, and the graffiti is of course one of the highlights. A small sign explains some history of this cool spot. So much to explore in the area. The Trans Canada Trail runs right by here a most excellent bicycle journey on old rails to trails in the area. Stop in for a quick walk or spend the day riding the trails a great place to explore.

Lame tourist stop that’s very dirty. The two stars are for the original structure and historical info board, but it’s been absolutely ruined with graffiti. Kinda gross, wouldn’t recommend

The Tunnel of Flags
It is not a tunnel of flags nor even well kept history. It has become an eyesore and is not well maintained. It marks the beginning of a trail, it is a road side pull out with no amenities, This is right after a corner which has motorists making a choice to gain speed after going through the town of Greenwood, or prepare to pull over. As you can imagine this creates a bit of confusion and with with large logging and transport trucks traveling at great speeds, it can lead to a disaster. Please exercise caution.
