Avis Car Rental

Our bill charged to our credit card was almost triple the expected amount. We were charged for any and everything extra they could possibly charge to our account. We returned the car full of fuel and had it detailed inside and out. The extra charges alone were more than the actual car rental price and our charge per day was the highest I've seen and according to website even the moat expensive vehicle didn't compare at our price. Never again will I rent a car from Avis or the airport location. The rental was more than what it cost for 2 return tickets. Absolutely highway robbery!. I've been calling leaving multiple messages , I have emailed and never a response in return. Terrible experience and terrible customer service.

Great check in and check out experience. The car which was a Toyota Camry SE worked flawlessly. Getting to the car and returning it to the designated parking lot was simple and straight forward.

Great staff. We got screwed over by Thrifty at this airport - but the staff at Avis were very accommodating and helped us out with a rental.In fact, they were far more sympathetic to our predicament than the Thrifty employees were.

The staff where kind and courteous and well knowledge. The car was everything I hoped for in a car rental. I will certainly use their services when the need arises.

Rented a car while on vacation. It made getting around so much easier. The car was clean. I had a midsize SUV. It was a pleasure to drive. It had more features on it than mine. I love the back up and front camera so I can check for animals and children in the way. I did not have a child but it was nice to see the advice message to check the back seat before exiting the car.

Friendly people, easy pickup, however the drop off may be lengthy depending on how many people are before you, take this into consideration so you don't get late for your boarding especially if the security is also crowded, I appreciate their unlimited mileage, the car was clean and fully fueled at pick up, returning the car to the airport parking lot is easy.

We picked up a car that I had rented using the Avis app on Monday, Sept 30 and returned the car on Oct 4, 2019 from the St. Johns Airport. Both times I received very good customer service. Both women were very friendly and knowledgeable about the car and answering any questions. The Avis desk was easy to get to (by the baggage carousels). The only thing I would suggest is having more instructions on how to drop the car off as there aren't a lot of signs in the parking area and no one was there to greet us, but this may be more of an issue for the airport rather than the car rental business.Overall great experience and will definitely rent again!

While having a flat in Newfoundland, the only contact for roadside assistance that we could talk to was in the USA. The flat was on Saturday morning. Lost almost 2 days of our planned travel, till Monday morning when the car was replaced. Roadside assistance was directed to the USA, and they couldn't help.

Extremely easy to book rental car online. Staff at check-in were exceptional knowledgeable and friendly. Airport location was handy for our 10 day vacation. High quality Ford Edge with low mileage and many extras that were included in the price determined at booking. Highly recommend and would use Avis again

This is my third time renting a car through Avis-Budget at YYT, and I’ve had issues every time. The first year I reserved a compact, but was given a sub-compact at arrival. The girl said that at YYT, those two classes are considered the same. I was annoyed but took the car anyways. After my trip I called head office. They confirmed that the staff member was incorrect, and I was given a pricing adjustment.The second time I rented, I was given a car experiencing major brake issues, causing the car to violently vibrate, especially going down hills. I genuinely have no clue how the maintenance people missed this. The staff at the desk exchanged the car no problem, but I was annoyed at having to make another trip to the airport a couple days into my vacation. Luckily I wasn’t making the drive out to Gros Morne until later in my trip.This year, I again reserved a compact, but upon arrival was given an “upgrade” of a Chrysler 300. I don’t really see it as an upgrade, as it takes more fuel and is harder to drive/park on tight city streets, but I took it anyways. Immediately the car had key fob issues. At first the push button wouldn’t work, and then the car kept giving the “fob not detected” message. I managed to get the car started, and figured it was just a glitch. However I continued to have issues with it throughout the day. I went back to the airport again and the girl confirmed that indeed the fob wasn’t working properly, and said I could come back the next morning to exchange, since they had no other cars that night. They exchanged the car quickly the next morning, but had basic maintenance/inspection been conducted on the Chrysler in the first place, I wouldn’t have to make two additional trips back to the airport to exchange.I’m leaving three stars because the staff at the counter are good. But the maintenance people really need to start doing their jobs.
