Apparently Safeguard has put us on a not to rent to list. They tried to kick us out in the middle of the winter with three children, but give us until May31st. They constantly harassed us for 25 dollars we owed. We couldn't find a place to rent and now we are bouncing all over the place. We have kids and they had marked all over their walls. We also had cats. We couldn't take a lot of our stuff, and had to leave it there including food and a litter box. Also whenever the oil company came all we could smell was the fumes for a couple of days after. We didn't have time to clean up. We are not pigs and I planned on painting and fixing things. Safeguard knew about everything wrong and refused to fix anything. Safeguard are very irresponsible and don't dare about their tenants. Why would we clean up when Safeguard didn't care about our health and wel.

Safeguard is by far the worst property management company ever. They send a property manager who has never been in the house to do exit walk through.Said manager knows nothing of property, along with original owners who have not been in house in the 3 years I’ve rented from them.So basically pointless when pointing out any issues that they claim to have happened when I lived there.I had to take them to tenancy board for failing to fulfill their duties on a fixed term lease. I won, currently waiting for small claims for failing to fix the heat issue. No doubt I’ll win now as I have more evidence that it was impossible to keep the house warm, despite the $200 reduction in rent over 3 winter months to “offset” heat. Laughable.Safeguard does not maintain or do upkeep of the house, until you say there is an issue and only then its about 25% of the time it’s actually fixed. I waited over a year for a new fridge as it kept freezing my food! I also went through 3 property managers in 2 months. But it’s my fault that things aren’t done, not that communication slipped on their end.Anyways I’m taking them back to tenancy board for claiming “damages”.Oh they also won’t work with you on your walk out inspection, in March. Property manager was sick, then back to back snow days, but they did the walk through without me, didn’t offer another day.If you want long term renters, don’t use safeguard as your management company. They can handle garbage, because that’s how they manage and treat people, like garbage.

Worst experience renting in their property.. we endure 6 months of brownish water ,we contacted them multiple times but it took them 6 months to fix the water system. They don’t even have consideration to their tenant even my wife is pregnant. Too many issues on the property and it’s really hard to communicate with them especially the last person that we emailed I forgot her name.We decided to move on other places and ask them permission to let us find tenant to sublet and they agree following day when we already found person to sublet the property,they change their mind and declined sublet to property. We really worried about our newborn about our situation but they didn’t even care. It’s really a terrible and traumatic experienced we had being a tenant. We really don’t know where we can ask for help about our situation because we are migrants from other country. We don’t really feel safe in safeguard.Thanks to public health of NS and they are very supportive to us especially to our newborn baby.

Had a 6 month lease and they decided to not renew the lease all because we complained about our washer and dryer never being fixed, which still isn't and we move out in 2 days and all I can say is good riddance!

They property managers are up and down when it comes to responses about issues. Sometimes, they reply instantly other times it takes weeks. I've had 2 different refrigerator break and they refused to come when I called. They also refused to compensate my loses in food which was everything. Won't weatherize my windows and door so cold air doesn't come in and and lies about asking the owner to pay for work then says they never asked them.I just wanna add I've had no issues with them until this past year. I've been renting from them since 2019.

Worst Service Ever!!! Especially Nikki Latta" They won't return you your security deposit even if there is no damage done. We moved out in the end if july and Asked them to refund our security deposit they said they will take a look then they"ll refund the deposit. No response from them for two weeks after reaching out to them they said you left furniture in the apartment so we"ll have to throw it out and we"ll use your security deposit to pay the workers and whatever will be left there we"ll send you the Invoices as a proof and refund the deposit. We waited for one month for their response

the communication with safeguard is horrible. when we moved into our spot, we were told they would be back within a week to fix whatever needed to be fixed. that was 10 months ago and they have only come to fix things important to them, such as things for fire code, instead of fixing things that impede our daily lives.our washer and dryer both broke. they repaired the washer and brought us a new dryer - also didn’t work. that was a month and a half ago. we have emailed and called with no response. laundry is something we pay for in our lease and they have offered no compensation for this inconvenience.we had a company hired by safeguard come knock on our door expecting to fix a window and we had to turn them away as safeguard did not give us a heads up - also promised on their lease.if i could give this company 0/5 stars, i would. i will never be renting from them again.

Terrible communication period. We spoke with the office admin twice, left several voice messages regarding our desire to engage with them to manage our rental property and have received absolutely no response whatsoever. If you are too busy, a simple call to let us know would have been appreciated, no response is simply rude. At this point, after our experience, I would recommend skipping this business as it is quite likely they would never show up if there were issues with your property.

Have an issue, don't bother contacting them, they don't get back to you. Follow up a week late? Why bother, so no reply. Super cheap homeowner. Seems fine to have people live with electrical issues.Looking to move asap.

Safeguard Property Management & Services Inc.
We lived at the Cornwallis Inn for a year, in the old section facing Main. While the building is very old, you wouldn't know it on the inside with the exception of high ceilings, crown-moulding and antique doors. Safe Guard did a wicked job renovating the apartment, geothermal heat made it comfortable at all times of the year, if something in the apartment broke, they were on it right away. Thanks to Audrey, Paul, Sean, Paul and Melissa for giving us such a safe, convenient and comfortable place to live.
