Last time I was there (circa 2000), it was well stocked with imports. The staff was super helpful with selection. I haven't been there since (despite Google Maps insisting otherwise). But I assume things didn't change much.

Staff is pretty reliable at either ignoring you or failing to show any appreciation for a customer spending money in a business which inflates prices more than their competition.Liberty staff at their Commercial Drive or 8th and Cambie locations at least have generally good customer service practices. That makes me feel better for paying overvalue for wine.

Great wine selection. Like any good old fashion wine store there was a it of everything from different places. And each selection was impecable. However, the service at the store was not existing, and at the checkout it was just dry and made you question why you were there.

Too bad you poured it down the drain, as I believe they have a policy for current bottlings that would have allowed you to take it back for a replacement. I too have noticed way more bottles these days are corked - mostly from european producers, which in some cases are bottling in their ancient facilities, which look really picturesque but can harbour all sorts of wine spoiling stuff. Not the fault of the retailer though!

This place has a wonderfully edited selection of wines in slightly tight quarters- takes some time to browse, as it should. The whole experience was dampened by the guy at the cashier with the dark curly hair who didn't even deign to return a 'hello' at the cash. (Seriously, don't work with the public if we're annoying you by trying to buy stuff...)(Edit: changed review to four stars to acknowledge the owner's comment- thanks :)

Staff was super rude and unhelpful. I was browsing the fridge and the person working made me move aside twice for other people instead of waiting for me to finish. Then I had to stand around waiting for them to finish. They also did not assist my brother in finding something to buy but helped the other customers extensively browse the entire store. My brother asked for a particular product and they basically told him to look for it himself. Maybe we didn’t look rich enough? I am not sure.

Was happy to stumble upon another Liberty location (even though the selection is smaller), until the staff literally threw the purchased item and change onto the counter. This guy clearly hates his job or is racist. Or both. Either way, was my worst service experience in years - definitely not a good look for the store. I hope the management reads this and actually does something to do better.

Always nice to pop in here and see what is on the shelf. They have a good selection of wines that don't make it to the government liquor store shelves - nice to have variety. (Now, about getting a VIP discount... ;) )

My idea of a wine shop. Reminds me of a shop on the first floor of an apartment where we stayed for a month in Strasbourg, France. Good selection of obscure wines from everywhere. Excellent price range, too, from inexpensive table wines to high-end labels.
