My boiler stopped working in the middle of winter. This was the company assigned with my AHS home warranty. The technician who came out seemed nice at first, and talked with us in length after his inspection of our boiler system, and he stated there was multiple parts that had failed and that we should consider just replacing the whole unit due to its age. Days later I find out that he stated that our boiler failed due to a backup/clog in the boilers flue. He did not have any snake camera with him nor did he even take apart the boiler enough to get up into the flu to make such a diagnosis. Because of his false statement, my home warranty company claim was denied. He needed to just come out and state what was broken, he didn’t need to make an assumption on what caused it to fail. I know for a fact there was no clog in my flu because I had my entire flue system cleaned out within the last year because of a carbon monoxide scare in the house. This company was one of the companies that came out to inspect this exact boiler when that happened however, they were not the ones to check the flue. I had a chimney company come out, check the flues and clean them all just as a precautionary measure even though there was no obstructions found even then. The flu on a boiler and a flue on a fireplace chimney are two separate flue that go up the same chimney stack. This technician thought because my husband happen to be cleaning out ash from our fireplace because we had been burning multiple fires throughout the today in order to keep the house warm while not having heat that the ash in the fireplace ash dump was what caused an obstruction in my boilers flue. It is mind blowing that a technician doesn’t understand the situation enough yet still felt it necessary to mention in his report. Obviously they’re supposed to put something in there that will get the claim denied because there is some sort of an agreement between the assigned contractor and AHS. We ask the owner to come back out and show us where there was any sort of instruction, and when he came back out to the house, he too didn’t even have the necessary equipment with him to make such a diagnosis. They also wanted us to wait an additional week before the owner/supervisor could come and take a second look. Total BS!

Update: the part that needed replacement was the capacitor. ($17 on Amazon) caldera lied about everything that needed to be done. The coil is perfect. No modifications were needed. This company tried to fraud us out of $1,500, and our tenant out of $750. I have officially turned my case over to the fraud department at the insurance company. Along with all evidence proving the attempted fraud. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!We have HSA and this company was assigned to us through them. They never called or showed for the first appointment. I called twice and they said they would call back, they never did. On the third call they finally rescheduled. They actually showed up for the second appointment. Modifications needed to made to our existing ductwork, something we were prepared for, due to the age of the house and appliances. HSA does not cover modifications, again something we were prepared for as this is a duplex and we already did it for the other unit. We were told, pay 1/2 upon making the appointment, 1/2 when the job was completed. The total for our portion was 1500. We paid 1/2, they showed up for the appointment and I received a call from the office demanding the remaining 1/2 before they started the job. I never received an invoice or receipt as originally promised with the first 1/2. When I called the lady out for changing the terms of the agreement, she said she understood what I was told , but this was the way it was now. I told her that didn’t make any sense, if they could change the terms without notice they could change anything, the price, they could not finish the job, etc. her response: “Not my problem.” When I told her I wanted my money back if she wasn’t going to do the job she basically hung up on me. She did not agree to refund my money. Don’t use this company!! Buyer beware!!! Very dishonest.

Believe the bad reviews. This company was sent by American Home Shield. They are Hard to reach, voice-mail box full and not very competent it would appear. AC is making a loud noise and not getting cooler than 73°. Once technician came he said it was a loose screw and that was it. A day later we still have the same problem. So it wasn’t fixed, the technician was busier trying to be funny than actually working and now it’ll be 7-10 days before they can get anyone else back. Temps are 80-90 right now and we are not happy to say the least.

My A/C unit was discovered to have a leak and inoperable. My home warranty company contacted Caldera who responded to assess the unit. After their assessment, the technician estimated the need for 10-12 pounds of refrigerant being required for my A/C unit. When I requested a second opinion, I was advised that my unit would only require 4-5 pounds of refrigerant. My home warranty company requested a copy of the assessment completed by the technician from Caldera but after 3 days of contacting Caldera with no response or documents being provided. After receiving no response, the company I requested as a second opinion serviced my unit and confirmed the need for only 4 pounds of refrigerant.

Jose was very knowledgeable and explained what he was doing and made sure we had ac on Memorial Day! And after hours!! Prompt service and very friendly!! Will use Caldera Service again if needed!!

Was a little nervous reading some of these reviews prior, but Caldera did an excellent job fixing our AC and replacing our capacitor! We have HSA home warranty. Luis and Omar were very friendly and respectful. They even arrived earlier than they planned to on the day of when I called them to let them know our condo office and maintenance personnel would be out of office if they came later in the day. They fixed the issue quickly and also took out our old yucky filter for us and told us exactly where to get a replacement filter and what size. Really appreciated their responsiveness, timeliness, and courtesy!

Do not recommend, do not hire. American Home Shield (AHS) assigned them, they didn't show up for the first appt within the window and had to reschedule. Then, they showed up after the window on a Friday evening. The tech did not do much but look at the system and tell us it was configured wrong. He said he would need to come back with another tech and diagnose. I called the following business day with no answer from them. Then AHS called 6 days later saying the diagnosis was a bad zone valve which was not covered. I disputed the diagnosis and another company came out diagnosed, fixed the issue, and it was back working ASAP with NO zone valve issue. Caldera is a fraud, do not hire if you can help it.

Wow… never have a business experience like this one. Came out replaced my whole air conditioner unit, because my previous one was leaking. Charged me $5,500. Was fine the first summer, now this summer is around and it’s leaking ALOT again. Hasn’t even been a year, and they want to charge me $100 to come and just LOOK what’s going on.. telling the lady in the office and she’s trying to say since it’s been OVER or CLOSE to a year(she couldn’t decide which excuse to use) she has to charge me $100… she ended up hanging up on me because I was so frustrated I cursed like the grown woman I am. Would NEVER recommend this company or people to ANYBODY

Seem like really nice people, but did not come when they were supposed to, 4 times, over 2 weeks in and heat still not fixed in Feb in extreme cold. This was done thru a warranty company hence the 4 times out and still not fixed. Lied to warranty company to where they would not cover any repairs. Ended up calling another company out of pocket to come look, and they said the wrong part was put in it that didn't even go to my heater, that being the only part caldera put in my heater. My family freezing did not seem urgent at all to them as they kept changing dates around to show up, came by 1 time when I was at work n say oh well we tried to come by but no one answered now we can't come back for another few days. Would agree on a day and time, then just not show up and I would have to call them again to see what's going on since I didn't even get a call to tell me they weren't coming. They said it was because the distance, not in the area, well don't take the job if you're not gonna do it, or do it right. Left it in worse condition then what it originally was, have photos, video, before, after and during. Don't fall for the you need a duct cleaning" paid about 300 for them to bring the small propane tank looking thing with about a 12 inch straw type tube

Worse place to ever do business with! I’ve had no A/C going on two months because of errors this company has made. They came out in May said I had no Freon it took them over a week to come back out and fill my unit up with Freon. Unit still wasn’t cooling. Came back out said its actually a hole in my evaporator coil. As of today I was rescheduled and still no AC. I do not recommend using this company. Customer service giving me attitude because I’m fed up with waiting! I asked for a refund.
