Atelier Microscott Workshop

I had some problems with my computer so I brought the machine into Microscott for an opinion or two and a replacement part. The workshop is conveniently located on Sherbrooke in NDG and impossible to miss, so it was an easy trip for me. The owner, Scott, was friendly, clever and did a very concrete thing to earn my trust right out of the gate by suggesting cheaper, better options than what I had come in with. That made my day. As a side note, when I came back later in the day to pick up my computer I heard him do the same thing for another patron.Scott's integrity is a virtue.I ended up spending a fraction of what I thought I would including the parts and labour. As a first time customer, and based on personal experience elsewhere, I was not expecting all the fixes to be complete same day. I don't know if that's a regular thing or if I was lucky enough. I'm happy to take the win and credit Scott.Also, at my special request, he found a way to disable all the glowing internal lights that plague modern computing. As long as Scott walks the Earth, I can say with confidence the heavens are missing an angel of mercy.

Had a great experience there. Scott is very friendly, professional and most of all knowledgeable. Would highly recommend to anyone. Figured out the issue and fixed it. Can't ask for more

I had an issue with my computer (CPU cooler fan not working) turns out it was my power supply...BUT I had no idea until I came to see Scott!At first, I went just to see what the establishment was like. Super nice guy, he gave me tips on how to install the cooler, and all these ideas that might be the problem free of charge taking the time out from his day to help a random stranger (me). I went home, tried the ideas out, but it didn't work. I then brought my computer in and within the day, he called me back, said it was my power supply. I came and collected my computer, he installed the CPU cooler, and I will order my power supply today. Honestly, super nice guy, takes the time to explain things to you, is very down to earth and easy going. I will come back and recommend him to my friends. Thanks again Scott.

Didnt work out with him! Maybe he is skillful in other cases but for me the lack of effort was a bummer i have to travel too far for it just to have no work done!My system keeps freezing after every 2-5 mins and i needed someone to check it. I went to the store based on recommendation on social media and he did seem to be knowing what’s he doing..so after couple of days my system never froze according to him which was definitely surprising but maybe luck and i asked him to play a video game or run like anti virus scan or something which uses more power he says it will be fine just come and i can try doing it in the place so i agreed to come back & if nothing works ill take it back home..once i return he doesn’t let me do anything just asks me to take it home and bring it back when it freezes again i tell him lme try as he suggested but he doesn’t let me and just when i bring it home it kinda freezes within 5 mins & ps not to forget i have to take time off from work go to my house take uber spend like 20-30$ cause its far & then end up again going to office!Maybe he did good job in other cases but for me it was a big thumbs down! Id had not put this review if he had let me do the test at his center but well…

I needed a pc headset with the 2 mini plug audio interface. He had it. But when he printed out the invoice on a dot matrix he blew my mind. He's been in business for 35 years.

Scott is a pleasant fellow who knows his stuff and has a sense of humour. His hourly rate is very reasonable and he tells you up-front the problems that might arise in doing what you want done. I spent around $800, was pleased with the results, and will go to Scott again when the need arises.A few months after I wrote the review above, I asked Scott to build a new PC for me. I have been using the new machine for several months and am extremely pleased with it. Scott built it to my specs, installed the most up-to-date drivers, and included documentation and disks for all of the components in the delvery. And the price ... much lower than an equivalent machine from a box-store!Added July 2016: one of my hard drives failed. Scott replaced it with a new 1 Tb drive and had my PC up and running within two hours - and all for less then $100. Bravo, Scott!Added August 2017: my PC wouldn't boot and I couldn't even get into the BIOS. Scott had it up and running in 10 minutes! And, as usual, his charge was extremely reasonable.

i just used my dell laptop for a couple of months without any issues. But after my laptop has a issue to open. I brought my laptop to fix at microscott but the technician took my laptop back to his place for a while and came back then claimed that i did not have harddisk on the laptop.

The owner is a very nice guy.I would highly recommend to visit his shop if you have any computer problems over the ones in downtown.He's very helpful and suggests you the best solutions.

I brought my PC into MicroScott because something was blown in my computer. He fixed my computer the same day by 3:00 pm. He also cleaned out my computer completely, which was just awesome service.My computer needed a new power supply. I cannot remember the exact price, but it was really honest and low. I would definitely go here to get your PC fixed and I would consider buying a used computer if ever I need to. Which I hope is not for a long time, because my PC is also awesome.
