Brought my 1970s Ampeg SVT in to get serviced. It was cutting out and buzzing. He kept it half a day and could find nothing wrong. Charged me for it. Got it back to the rehearsal space and 30 minutes in it began to cut out and buzz again. He clearly does not know much about old school vintage amps. Found a great repair man in the valley who determined it was loose wiring that occurs with old SVT ‘s. He fixed it for me for less than what I paid this guy to do nothing.This was back a year or so ago. I am not mistaken. Your name is Minsu. Your repair shop was upstairs.I did not keep the invoice number. No need too.

Good people who care are hard to find in this day and age. I went to Pure Sound as i was gifted my Akai AA-940 that had been neglected by others for 40 years. It had a LOT of problems and was a long way away from even being useable. With effort, patience and a willingness to tackle the tough stuff, Minsoo brought this amp back to life.There is nobody better in the GVA for this kinda of work. Kind of wish he'd start teaching apprentices as these skills are hard to find. I wish i could problem solve like Minsoo the magician. I recently took my 1973 Marshall JMP 50 watt to Pure Sound. It needed a new power cord, and I wanted Minsoo to make sure everything was in good order. This amp was an inheritance from my older brother and hadnt been turned on for many years.Minsoo did a fantastic job !!! He is a professional and the service and care was more than excellent. I recently brought my two old 1970's Sansui AU-9500 amplifiers to Pure Sound for repair. After sitting in storage for over 15 years, they no longer worked. Within two days, both amps were diagnosed and repaired by Pure Sound. I'm impressed with the excellent service I received and now the amps sound just like new, thanks to Mr. Kim. Highly recommended.

Took my Balance Audio Technologies vk-300 in for repairs as the amp was dropping the left channel. I was concerned that it would be tough to find the right company to service the integrated amp. Well Pure Sound found matching tunes and reset the amp up. Now it is better than when I first put it into service 12 years ago. Thank you Pure Sound for the great service and kind way of talking to your customers.

This the second time in 5 years that he has expertly repaired my indispensible 45yearold heavy metal, increasingly corroded amp, each time for a reasonable price.

I have been wanting to do a review for Puresound, but kept getting distracted. I had fortunate experiences dealing with Minsoo more than a few times. You will not meet a more knowledgeable and honest person than this guy. I have brought a few vintage amplifiers with some issues he fixed. He would be straight forward with the problem; and explain in detail what the issue is. Most of all, he will not take advantage of someone who has limited knowledge about electronics (like me). Do not mistake his serious demeanour as being rude. On the contrary, he is mild mannered and very pleasant.As for the $60.00, I think it is fair. I am just thankful he hasn’t increased it yet. A couple of years ago I bought an Alesis integrated amplifier which Minsoo re-engineered. Oh boy, I tell you, it sounds real great! I am not sure how it would compare to a 5k+ amp, because I never owned one. All I can say is it’s way better than all the vintage stuff I have or had (ADCOM, HAFLER, QUAD, NAD).I recommend this place 100%.

itook my MusicMan 100rp to two other shops.and they were lost......after 3weeks of completely wasted time .afriend suggested Minsoo at pure sound ..he was outstanding, honest and fairi got a call in 3 days, informing me it was repaired...dont take your vintage any where elsethanks so much Minsoo. .
