Wellington West Retirement Community

On March 31 I had surgery at the Ottawa Civic Campus to remove a cancerous tumour. I live alone and required assistance following surgery. April 4 I registered with Wellington West for a 10 day residency. Wellington West have 24/7 nursing care, meal service etc. Basically extended hospital care. This service provided me total care and gave my daughter comfort knowing that I was safe and comfortable. I enjoyed my short term residency at Wellington West. Very well managed community service in the Hintonburg area of Ottawa.

I stayed in Wellington West Retirement (WWR) for a month when the floors in my home were being replaced. A one bedroom furnished unit had plenty of closet space and came with a washer/dryer, TV with cable and WiFi. Meals were delicious and always choice was provided. Staff was welcoming and residents friendly and interesting. I participated in many of the scheduled activities and especially enjoyed exercise classes. I do see WWR as the home of my future when I decide to move.

It was absolutely perfect for us – J negotiated the very roomy bathroom, just fine, OD’d on the Weather Network to his heart’s content – and I don’t think he’s ever slept so soundly! I am not used to having him wake him up in the morning!

This past year I went through the difficult journey of helping my parents to decide it was time to move into a more supported environment. Belle, at Wellington West Retirement Community provided me and my parents with outstanding and very patient support throughout the process. She was absolutely lovely to deal with and very kind, caring and compassionate throughout.

After checking out several retirement homes here in Ottawa, we decided to move into the Wellington West Retirement Community. As part of our search we looked at various factors.The building being new was a selling point. We were impressed with the entry/ common area. The availability of a pool, an exercise area, a separate meeting area with comfortable seating and a large screen for presentations and movies, and separate areas throughout the facility for special activities made us feel that there would be a variety of activities for our participation.We also noted several locations on different floors for access to coffee / tea / cold drinks and nibbles.The eating area was open and airy. We ate lunch to check out the food. Pleased with our meal. This was not always the case at other retirement locations.A very important factor for us was the friendliness of the staff and residents. While at lunch, and also while touring the facility, several residents stopped to say hello and chat. We felt welcomed, even though we were not residents.We moved into Wellington West Retirement Community the beginning of January 2023. Our expectations have been met. The food is very good. There are a variety of activities. The staff and residents are friendly and we are making new friends.We fully recommend this retirement residence as a viable option.

Thank you to the amazing staff at Wellington West Retirement community for helping my Father during is recovery from a surgery. The staff on 3rd floor were very helpful and cautious of his well being. Thank you to the management staff for organizing everything so quickly for him to be comfortable. You guys are amazing.

My mother has been at Wellington West Retirement Community for 18 months now. Her move to this residence has been such a positive experience. The facility is new and the decor is modern and very bright. The staff, from reception to dining to nursing, are attentive and display a sincere desire to assist, exceeding expectations time and again. My mother has been very happy and well-cared for since her move, and that makes us as her family very happy too!

I have had nothing but great experiences here at Wellington West. The staff is consistently friendly, helpful and genuine. I find the food exceptionally good and the place is beautifully designed.

From our initial contact to our Mom’s arrival, and as we enter the fourth month in Mom’s new cozy home, it has been a delightful transition and a positive experience for both Mom and the family.Upon arrival to this day, Mom has felt so welcomed by the friendly and dedicated team. Always greeting Mom and her fellow residents and their families and friends with smiles, humour, and kindness, the team has cheerfully ensured that Mom settled in with ease and they have continued to make every day so special for all.Everyone’s selfless efforts have been outstanding. Mom absolutely loves her new home and she regularly comments how nice everyone is and how they all know her by name. Thanks to the attentive team and the wonderful residents who have been so gracious, warm and friendly, Mom has easily made new friends at Wellington West.So much tireless work and dedication goes into making the residents’ day a pleasant and happy experience. This is certainly evident through all the creative activities, events, birthday celebrations, live entertainment, movie nights, guest and resident speakers, and special outings that are carefully planned for maximum enjoyment and full participation. Of particular note, the team organized and hosted fun Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties. The efforts, planning, thought, and care that went into making them such special events, is deeply appreciated. Just witnessing all the smiles around the room is a testament to the evenings’ success and how much it meant to the residents and their families. The excellent food, music, and dancing filled the room with cheer and happiness. The Wellington West team went out of their way to make the parties so fun and special.The Wellington West facilities are in a class of their own. Meticulously clean, well laid out common areas, the facility’s bright and cheerful décor, and various options of suite floor plans, have been designed to not only enhance comfort but conceived with happiness and well being in mind.We also have enjoyed many lunches and dinners with Mom while we are visiting. The meals choices vary to accommodate all tastes. The food is absolutely delicious and the dining room staff are so kind and always go over and above any service standard to ensure everyone enjoys their meals.Wellington West is a truly amazing retirement residence as are the team members who foster a deep sense of family and community each and every day.A big thank you to all the extraordinary folks who make a difference, including the Executive Director, Marketing Manager, Business Manager, 3rd floor Nursing Care team, Lifestyle Coordinator, Concierge, Maintenance Manager and cleaning staff, as well as Chef and dining room staff, who all just do it all with such grace, care and kindness!

I had the pleasure of a temporary stay at the Wellington West Retirement Community recently. While in respite care on their Assisted Living floor, I received great care from very professional and friendly staff. In my few months there, they took care of everything and were always quick to respond when help was needed. My only responsibility was to show up for meals, which were well balanced, tasty and in just the right portions.There was always a range of activities available and ample opportunities to mingle with other residents, if desired. The large lobby was a wonderful gathering place where I could spoil myself with a daily cappuccino and engage in pleasant conversation with other residents.For time on my own, my room was very comfortable, quiet, bright, and well appointed with TV and WiFi.I was also impressed with the overall cleanliness of the facility and the care taken by staff to keep it running smoothly. Everyone was so helpful!My recovery would have been so much more difficult without the care and attention of the fine staff at Wellington West Retirement Community. I am grateful to the team there and would gladly return for post-surgery respite care or to live full time in my later years.
