Please do not support Teck. The Teck frontier is a destructive mega-project that should not be built. Not only will it trample Indigenous rights, but it will also emit 6 million tonnes of greenhouse gases per year, damage an area of the boreal forest more than twice the size of Vancouver, and threaten unique biodiversityThere is no economy without the earth. And if projects like this continue, there will be no habitable earth.

If the Teck Frontier project is approved, people will not forget. These 24,000 acres need to be protected. We should be divesting from fossil fuels, since they are unsustainable and are killing our planet. It's very clear that alternative, sustainable energies are the future. Why engage in boom-and-bust, short term economic activities?

The Teck Frontier mine would be a ecological devastastion. If constructed it would be impossible to reduce our emission of greenhouse gases for 2050. It is not even economically viable because the price of oil in canada is in decline and the exploitation of fossil fuels is becoming less profitable in comparison to renewables.

Teck Frontier Mine, if built, will emit 6 million tonnes of greenhouse gases per year; cause irreversible damage to an area of boreal forest more than twice the size of Vancouver; trample First Nations rights and threaten unique biodiversity. All such projects threaten our future. Teck itself acknowledges the project may not be viable. Canada must never give this a go ahead.

Teck Resource’s proposed Frontier Mine would operate until 2067, even though Canada has committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. It is time for the Trudeau government to live up to its promises and reject the Frontier mine.

Please don't build the biggest tar sands project that will ensure fossil fuels will be extracted until 2067, far beyond Canada's deadline for carbon reduction in order to save the planet. Not to mention, this project disregards indigenous rights and biodiversity. There are other solutions that can turn the Alberta economy around but we have to jump in whole-heartedly in order to make a difference before it's too late. Look up the Green New Deal and the ways that Canada can transition to a system that respects all people and our environment.

Teck are proposing a huge tar sands expansion that would leave Canada (and the world) reliant on fossil fuels until 2067. This is not acceptable in an ecological and climate emergency! This company does not care about our well-being, it cares about profit. Time for change! #RejectTeck

Why would any business invest more money in oil today? This is ludicrous and just plain GREEDY. I don’t want the Teck Frontier mine to be built. It would be the TWICE the size of the City of Vancouver. It’s a destructive mega-project that will not only trample Indigenous rights, but also emit 6 million tonnes of greenhouse gases per year, damage an area of the Boreal forest, a total area more than twice the size of Vancouver, and threaten unique biodiversity. Oil is dead. Leave it in the ground and invest in green energy.

I mean if you're GOING to extract resources from the earth, which we do absolutely need to do, Teck is about the best company for doing it. They certainly put more effort into keeping things as environmentally friendly as possible. It's not a harmless business, but they do as good a job as can be done.

After reading the comment section, every 1-star comment is strangely similar. They were all posted steadily 3 years ago. They all make the same point about carbon emissions, first nations rights and green energy. Its as if the same person used multiple accounts to ambush Teck. The ironic thing is that your green revolution will require lots of copper (for upgraded grids to support electric vehicles.) These cars are built with steel, which requires metallurgical coal. And, where is the energy going to come from to power these electric vehicles?Paradoxically, your green energy revolution requires the resources that Teck produces.I like to think of myself as an ethical consumer/ investor too. I won't invest in cigarette companies or gambling. However, I have no problem investing in resource an mining. For certain, Teck does the dirty work. Teck employees are hard working men and women giving an honest day's work, supporting families. And, the resources they provide provide the basic materials for industry. And Teck is transitioning into greener efforts too.People should also question the motives behind a green economy, and whether its just meant to inhibit economic growth. Try telling the growing population of Canada, they all need to ride bicycles and own limited personal property, because its not environmentally friendly. You can't have it both ways. National prosperity requires mining. And yes, transitioning into greener practices is possible too.
