It was a great experience to work with Dr. Jonathan. It was my first time meeting with him. He helps me to understand my daughter situation and he explains clearly on what will happen during the surgery. He also understand my worry towards the surgery and said to me that he will treat my daughter like his own. That was very touching. The surgery was not long and result is great. After surgery he explains to me in detail on what kind the situation will happen? If I have any question gives them a call otherwise they will call me to follow up the after surgery. I am really glad I went to Monarch Pediatric Dental for help. It was a great experience. Now Dr. Jonathan is my daughter's favor doctor and she gives him a nickname call Doctor Fairy". My son is 6 years old, and he had two cavity filling and a crown cap procedure done this week. He is very sensitive to sounds and light so I was worried that he would cry or scared of going to the dentist. My son's dental experience is beyond peaceful and he actually told me it was fun at the dentist!His dental journey starts when he was 8 months old. We brought him to Monarch and been seeing different dentists, from Senior Dr. John Hung, Amazing Dr. Elsa Hui- Derksen, and Dr. Jonathan Hung.His teeth have been great with no cavity until this year. His teeth are growing really tightly and basically no gaps in between the teeth. Glad that Dr. Jonathan Hung at Monarch found the cavity really early on this year. He was so professional and friendly. His attention to details: observing and learning my son's personality, preference, and variants that might bother my son. Then Dr. Jonathan Hung came up with strategies that helps my son to overcome his fear. ie. My son is sensitive to drilling sound. Dr. Hung showed him, it's just like a painting brush that would help to get the yucky bugs off his teeth, it's the sound that would scare away the bugs. My son slowly overcame the sound and he understood that Dr. Hung is just trying to help him and he would remain calm.Dr. Jonathan Hung is not only great with kids but also very communicative with me. He is very detail oriented and educating me at the same time. He came up with treatment plans and we made the decision together. The cavity filling and composite crown cap procedure went so well!A tips for the parents: sometimes it's us being too scared and worried about that our kids won't have a good experience at the dentist. It's our concerns that they might make a crying scene or our doubts that if the dentist have the best treatment plans for our kids. We should just let it go and let the professional do their job. Dr Peter Chan might be a good university doctor but his practical is horrible. He literally was stabbing my mouth to pull my wisdom tooth out. Worst experience of my life. And his price atrocious. I never went back to him. For my next wisdom tooth went to a guy in Kits his price 1/3 of this guy and process was so easy for him. Don't waste your time with Dr Peter Chan. He needs to stick to his book smarts and keep out of the practical work!

We brought my newborn son here because he was tongue-tied. Dr. Mark and his team were extremely caring and knowledgeable about the procedure and made us feel at ease through the process. Dr. Mark is a patient centered practitioner and would highly recommend him to anyone. Our 3 week old son was made to feel relaxed, cared for, and Dr. Mark always had his best interests at heart.

I am so happy I found this dentist!!!My daughter is 3 and was having major tooth pain.Another local pediatric dentist brushed us off and told us to wait until March to get work done...As a mom that wasn't good enough and Monarch treated it the same way!The front staff got me in on the day I called in a panic, had everything organized for me before we even got there.We saw Dr. Elsa and her assistant. From the moment they walked in the room I felt 100 times better. They were so warm and loving towards my daughter and really knew how to make her feel safe and comfortable, not to mention it helps having the name Elsa! They had a crown on her and everything it was so great. Literally night and day from the last place we went to.They saw what I was talking about and went the extra mile to get her in to get work done ASAP and gave her something to mend the pain until then.I can't thank this office enough for their efficiency, communication and expertise in the pediatric field.Not sure what the other reviews are about, but all I can say is I was blown away and felt nothing but on the same page about everything and that it was all for the interest of my child and what's best for her.Thank you Monarch Pediatric Dental Centre (Burnaby)!!!

Good with kids but horrible with price. Had a full mouth checkup done on my son which unfortunately revealed extensive work that needed to be done. I didn't have the budget to have everything done regardless of the payment plan they offered. This dental centre is horrible when it comes to negotiating work that has to be done and refuses to do partial work now, and partial work later. Either everything has to be done at once or nothing. So my husband and I got a quote for the work that was required and decided to go through with it based on the agreed upon price. After the dental work, we got hit with an additional $500 stating it was more work than anticipated. What's the point of getting a quote if they won't stick to it? This place bullies people into getting work done and makes you feel like a bad parent if you can't afford it.
