Marley's Misfits Dog Training

We really enjoyed taking our new Bernedoodle puppy, Cosmo, to Joseph and Kayla! We loved their balanced approach towards training, and we now get compliments on how well behaved Cosmo is thanks to their help!They have a great program and gave us detailed and patient answers to any questions we’d asked. In fact, they have such a deep understanding of dog psychology and general health that we’d often seek their advice for questions that weren’t even training related! I would highly recommend them, and we’ll be going back for their advanced classes with Cosmo soon!

Extremely happy with the way our dog is progressing since taking her to Joseph & Kayla at Marley's Misfits Dog Training. We started at a different trainer when she was just a puppy and weren't seeing results. With Joseph and Kayla, we saw results immediately. Our relationship with our dog has improved greatly, 100% more enjoyable and less stressful - we're looking forward to going back to continue our training journey with our pup.

I brought Marcus, my 20 month old husky mix, in for the foundations course with Destiny. I couldn’t be happier with our progress. Marley’s misfits balanced training approach made swift progress with my willful and excited pup. Destiny explained and demonstrated clearly and skillfully. I feel so much more confident in handling my dog and look forward to more training in the future.

When we first started training with Joseph and Kayla, our Stella was definitely a “misfit”. After completing the Functional Foundations program, she has grown in ways that we never thought possible. I distinctly remember thinking “she’ll never be able to do an off leash heel” but by the end of the program I was eating my words. After a short time working with Joseph and Kayla, it’s like we have a whole new dog - she is more confident and obedient than we could have hoped for, and our bond with her has grown immeasurably. We highly recommend working with Marley’s Misfits; they have a straightforward and no nonsense approach to training that’s all about building your relationship with your dog from the ground up in a balanced, positive way.

We can't recommend Marley's Misfits enough! Without Joseph who knows where we would be. We have two littermate cockapoo's, Luna and Como, and at 5 months they started to become aggressive towards each other. We were about to rehome one of the dogs but found Joseph on Instagram and reached out. He immediately called and had us come in. He reassured us that he could help and explained his training style. We started with him the next day! After the first course we took, we had amazing results, and proceeded to take TWO more courses. We worked with him for almost a year and we can say not only did our dogs learn a tremendous amount, but so did we. We continue to use the tools Joseph taught us and now have a home with two thriving and happy dogs.

Enrolling in Marley's Misfits Dog Training has been one of the best decisions my partner and I made for our dog Pepper. Joseph and Kayla are an excellent team. Joseph employs an evidence-informed approach to making you a successful handler. He knows what he is doing and is very committed. He studies the literature, incorporating into what he teaches, while also appreciating what works for your dog. He listens to what is working and what needs adjustment. He provides you with a toolkit that aligns with you and your dog. It's rare to find someone so dedicated to, and passionate about their craft, while being excellent at what they do. Through Puppy Kindergarten, Pepper learned to sit, lay down, stay, heel and place in a variety of different situations, including on the street with distractions. She is also now very well crate trained, and she has no anxiety separation. We can't wait to enrol in the next module. I would recommend MMDT without reservation.

We had an awesome time working with Joseph and Kayla. We came to them for some reactivity and male territorial behaviours from our three-year-old Australian Shepherd. These behaviours have become very manageable with Joseph and Kayla’s advice, and we can already comfortably have him off-leash again. They’re also quite accommodating to each owners comfort level for tools and personalize classes to each dogs needs. Very good experience!

Our experience working with Joseph and Kayla was incredible. We completed the puppy kindergarten program with our Australian Shepherd puppy, Stevie. I am a first time dog owner and can’t imagine what it would have been like if I didn’t hear about Joseph! It made the training process so much fun, and also provided much needed support as we navigated through her puppy stage. Joseph was a able to offer advice on pretty much anything as things came up. My partner has had family dogs and thought he knew what training was all about, but was blown away by the level of training that we were able to achieve with Stevie through the guidance of Joseph and Kayla. When I was first researching dog training programs, I was hesitant about making the investment but I can confidently say that it was worth every penny and more. It was truly the best thing we could have done for Stevie. We can’t wait to continue training with Marley’s Misfits!

We had a great experience working with everyone at MMDT. With only first couple sessions of the foundation course we noticed significant change to our tiny dog; he suddenly became less fearful of the outdoors as he gained trust in us. By the end of all the training, our dog has gained so much confidence, he is like a new man. The training also has given us many tools to use beyond completion. I would highly recommend this place to other owners in need of help. We will continue to join in on group trainings in the future!
