Mattie's Place

We couldn't have been happier with Mattie's Place when adopting our sweet girl Journey last year. She was a medical case, a small pup who had a broken leg from being hit by a car. Mattie's Place brought her in from up north and with the care of Denise and the veterinary services who repaired her little leg, and the love of her foster family she grew strong and healthy into the sweet, loving and energetic dog she is now. Journey has been the best companion to our older dog Lola, and great first (older) puppy for our two kids. We adopted her when she was 6 months old, and now at almost 18 months old, she is a treasured member of our family. Thank you Denise for choosing us to be Journey's forever family, she is truly a gift. Denise, you do amazing work and take the time to nurture and support these dogs to find the right family who can support and treasure them.

When we filled out the application we initially applied for a puppy that already had a visit planned. Denyse showed us a few dogs similar in behaviour and looks. We adopted “Kiwi” is now Nala. She’s been with us over a month and we can not imagine life without her. She brings such joy and love and has truly opened up. Mattie’s Place has an extensive screening process and there is a reason for that. They truly care about the animals that come in and want the best for them. We can not thank you enough Denyse!!

Mattie’s Place has blessed me with my two beautiful dogs and I couldn’t be more thankful. My sister and dad have both adopted their dogs from Mattie’s Place as well and found their perfect match. Denise’s dedication, determination and kind-heartedness ensures no animal is left behind. We love you Matties Place! :)

We fostered and then adopted our little Coconut from Mattie's Place, and she brings so much joy to our life. She is a rescue from Quebec, and she is such a sweet, affectionate and playful dog. Denise has been very diligent in making sure her dogs are vetted and placed in safe loving homes, and I admire her commitment to saving dogs and reaching out post adoption to make sure all is well. If you want to add a furry member to your family do the right thing - adopt, don't buy. Plenty of amazing loving dogs need a home, instead of encouraging breeders to bring more into this world. Mattie's Place is a great place to start your search for a canine companion. I would give more stars than 5 if I could. This is an amazing organization.

Denise paired me with Stanley and we’ve never looked back. Stanley is just the best little buddy anybody could ever ask for. I would highly recommend Mattie’s place because Denise is very thorough in her process. It may seem like it’s a lot to go through to get a dog but I appreciate the fact that Denise doesn’t just put any dog with anybody and really puts a lot of thought into finding the right home for the right dog. Mattie’s place also goes above and beyond in helping dogs that have medical issues and I’m more than happy to pay the adoption fee knowing that some of it goes to helping with medical costs for other dogs. All in all a wonderful organization that I would highly recommend

It was heartbreaking to surrender our dog but he could not exist in our home any longer with our senior dog and his sibling brother, who was at our house almost every day. He just felt like he had to protect everyone but was aggressive when fear and insecurities kicked in. When anxiety and the fear kicked in, his response was to bite. The last bite incident where he bit my daughter and would not let go was the straw that broke the camels back for us.That is where Mattie’s Place came into the picture and took our dog in and provided him with a great foster home and the care and training he needed. Mattie’s Place genuinely cares for each dog and want each dog to go to a home where they will thrive.Although I wanted to know his progress every step along the way, I knew I had to stand back and let the process follow its course and be confident that our dog would be adopted into a home that could give him the environment he needed to take control of his fear and anxiety issues.Denise and the volunteers at Mattie’s place rose to and exceeded the expectations for our dog. So much so that I was informed that our dog has come a long way and is now a totally different dog and was adopted into the best possible home ever, with his foster mom. Now I know that our dog will have the best life possible and will get all the love and attention he can ever imagine from his new forever person and brother.Thanks to all the people who have been involved in this process. You truly are amazing people who have the animals, that you take in, best interests at heart.To my little fella, I will always love you and think of you often but I know that you are going to have a wonderful life and the best home.

We got our amazing Bruno from Mattie’s Place. Denise is wonderful and thorough, and cares deeply about matching the right animal with the right family. She also set us up with the right information to best position Bruno and us for success. We had never had a rescue before, and felt guided and supported through the whole process. Now, being a part of the Mattie’s Place adopter community, we see everyday how these amazing dogs are enriching people’s lives. Rescue dogs have a lot to offer, they just need to be given a chance. Couldn’t imagine life without this sweet boy!

Denise is a very careful caring coordinator. Her assessment of my dog was spot on. My dogs adoption process went very smoothly. She has certainly found her calling as Matties Place is a very well run agency and she’s saving the lives of some very deserving dogs (and cats) .
