Samesun is awesome! This was my first experience staying in a hostel and I was very pleasantly surprised. They hold free tours with super fun and knowledgeable tour guides. I had Donny as my tour guide. He was super sweet and gave my friend and I great tips on places to check out during our stay after the tour. The front desk is also really helpful if you need anything. Plus, the hostel is in a great location. A lot of the coolest spots are very close by (walking distance).I had a very positive experience, so I would definitely recommend to a friend. It’s a great backpacking experience, thank you guys !

My review keeps refusing to upload so I hope this works, I have so many good things to say about this hostel. Off the bat the front desk was warm and welcoming, Haley was wonderful! The breakfast was lush, and the shared kitchen was fit for any needs. The bar is a great idea for making friends with the cheapest taps in town. I was also lucky to join the free tours to Lynn Canyon, Kayaking and Stanley Park with a very charming guide Donny. He was such a cool little Canadian (the rumours are true, they’re very nice here!)I loved my stay at this hostel.

Friendly and helpful staff. Not the best option if you want to actually get some sleep. Lots of partying outside, even on a weekday. They wash the sheets, but it doesn't look like they wash the main blanket. The bathroom smelled like urine, but was kept fairly clean. Crazy that it costs $75 to share a tiny room with 6 people. I appreciated the fan in the bunk.

Stay: 9 Nights Solo TravelRoom Type: 6 women room - Forward facing to Granville Street - Yes it was quite loud, bring your Ear plugs or ask for a quieter room. The rooms had a charging station next to the bed with a fan/light, small locker. The bed was extremely comfortable!Breakfast consists of bagels, bread, spreads & fruit/veg, it does get repetitive if staying long term, so there was some days I skipped.Bathrooms Facilities are well equipped with shampoo, conditioner & soap and hot showers with great pressure. Recommend to take flip flops! There is a slight sewer smell to the drains, however with the high use this makes sense, it does not appear to be in regard to the place being “unclean”.Tours run from Wed-Sunday. I completed 4 of the group tours, Donny was extremely informative with his knowledge on the sites, his honesty & his ability to engage with a vast range of personalities & nationalities is truly priceless for Samesun! I will add and additional note that Marushio & Pablo were great as an additional tour guide! All staff were very friendly during my stay & helpful when required. Overall the place is aged & it is a hostel, however I found it had what was required. Potentially the rooms could install some additional fans for air flow as it can get stuffy with having to close the windows. I really enjoyed the Musical Bingo & Trivia night with my new friends from the tours! Overall I really enjoyed my stay here.

This hostel is nice, staff are friendly and helpful. The location is great, easy to get there. The breakfast was fresh and good. I went to the kayaking tour they arranged. Our guide ‘Donny’ was fun, helpful and friendly.Highly recommend!

An awesome hostel that understands its travelling guests. Lots of nice touches to the beds and facilities that many other hostels completely miss. Very clean with space to move around. Like that it has daily group hikes, and the bar downstairs is especially awesome. I will definitely come back!

All in all pretty good. The hostel is located on Granville street, where most clubs are. Many homeless people there but very central. The dorms for 6 don‘t have curtains on the bed and are pretty loud since the window is faced to Granville street.Breakfast is nice, there are three different kinds of bagels, toast, cream cheese, margarine and jam every day. And also some cut vegetables and fruit. Staff is very welcoming and ready to help any time. Front desk is open 24/7. There are activities organized from the hostel which is great for meeting new people. Bathrooms are okay but could definitely be cleaner. It‘s expensive for what you get but personally I was willing to pay it

I was booked in for four nights and cancelled on the first day and wasn’t refunded for the remaining three nights. This left a sour taste in my mouth after travelling 15 hours on a to get to Vancouver. The rooms are small hot and smell funny as you’d expect in a hostel. The only positive outcome from this experience is that the ladies on the front counter we are happy and bubbly It’s a credit to them to keep a smile on their face whilst working in such a dive.

This was my second time staying in a hostel and I enjoyed it. I’m female and unfortunately didn’t book well enough in advance so ended in a 4 person mixed dorm. All of my roommates were guys and were mostly indifferent to my presence and me to theirs. There was only one guy I was a bit wary of (a bit too friendly, but not inappropriate) and I wasn't sure if I could flag this to staff or ask for a room change. However most just stayed a single night and no issues occurred. Our room had lockers for our things that were big enough to hold my cary on suitcase and backpack with room to spare. The rooms could definitely use some upgrading (they look nicer in the pictures than reality), but the bed was actually quite comfortable and where my room was didn’t get a lot of street noise. I also liked how each bathroom and shower were individual stalls with a door and lock. The staff were very helpful no matter the time of day and the location and price were awesome! It was always clean, has a nice patio for eating at, and the main ares were air conditioned (though the rooms weren’t).Overall, I would go again if I need a low cost place to stay at, that still had friendly staff, was clean, and at an excellent location in the downtown.

Very sufficient run hostel with good bed and breakfast accommodation. Despite the noise it is right downtown which is very good for seeing the city and its highlight. There are free towel. Free breakfast! And the free tours are great. I enjoy my time with Donny the guide during the week, it was fun. I will stay at Samesun again.
