It's a fun area. Some really lovely trails. I bring my dog & we had a blast yesterday running down snowy hills & through snow drifts. Families were up there with their kids. Was a nice wintery day.Cramp ons": If there is snow or ice buy a pair. Basically snow chains for your shoes. We were able to run down a fairly steep decline.....no problem. A MUST for winter hikes.I do the Grouse Grind a lot

Nice ride.It is possible to ride up to the campus from Forest Grove Park avoiding Gaglardi Way. There are trails through the Park that connects with the TransMountain trail. Follow the trail up under the powerlines near the Kwekwecnewtxw (Coast Salish Watch House). It is a little overgrown at the creek crossing but otherwise ok. At Gaglardi (there is NO crosswalk) connect with the service road then Water Main trail (steep) on the other side.

The trails are finally getting some much-needed love, thanks to TORCA! (Tri-cities Off-road Cycling Association.) Nicole's Trail has had a few recent Trail Days (volunteers come out and spruce up the trail). This Trail (video) is on the lower half of Bby Mtn, which can be started from Lower Gear Jammer (black) or the cut-through from North Road Trail or Powerline Trail.

Fun trails connecting one after one. Pandora trail along with the fantastic view was mesmerizing!!The drawback of most trails/hikes are there is a reason why every trail mentions LEASH YOUR DOG AT ALL TIMES. All along my trip I witnessed so many owners leaving their dogs at their own will.. Had a terrifying encounter with one such frenzy dog that growled and barked nonstop at people walking by and the owner just laughs. Pathetic inconsiderate and insensitive towards other people’s safety.

I recommend anyone to explore trail oriented mtb style and it is my first time hitting the trails so i learn so many things like plan ahead before you go and also know the trail of incline and decline by looking at the map.

Not sure if the map shows the same trail as I went on but this trail starts and ends at the burnaby mountain parking lot.You can either head up and you will see markers for the trans Canada trail. The hike that I'm reviewing starts at the top of burnaby mountain swings past sfu goes down towards Barnett marine park and goes back up the mountain finishing off with a 500 step climb to get you back to the burnaby mountain parking lot.Overall it's a generally easy hike. The markers are not that well displayed as there is a part where you have to cross the parking lot by the bike park to connect back to the trail that is not described well. Summer time is much easier and will take around 90 to 120 minutes depending and is approximately 12 km. Winter it's another story as you can see. Deep snow and icy conditions make it more difficult but easily doable. Waterproof boots will be needed as the trail is not that used in the winter. During the winter depending on your fitness level could take 3 to 4 hours some parts snowshoes are recommended depending on snow levels.

Great trails for mountain biking & hiking! Easy access from Simon Fraser University campus, the trails are well marked with signs and more importantly the trails are very well maintained. There is some construction when you come out halfway on the single track ( upper Mel’s ) but they usually have a flag person directing traffic. Overall great trail system !
